17.01.2022 The SuperStream Deadline is Fast Approaching! Small businesses with employees must be SuperStream compliant by 30th June 2016. With just 3 months before this deadline, the ATO have announced that to date, more than 60% of small businesses are already SuperStream compliant. This means that if you arent already compliant, its important that you take steps now to become SuperStream compliant by the deadline. ... SuperStream is the standardisation of how employers make superannuation payments on behalf of their employees. Under SuperStream, superannuation payments for your employees must be made electronically, in a standard format. There are a variety of ways you can make compliant payments: -If you are using payroll software, your software provider will provide details on how to make SuperStream compliant payments using their software, so make sure your software is up to date. -Your default superannuation fund provider can act as a clearing house for your superannuation payments. Typically that will allow you to make one payment to your superannuation fund provider and they will distribute the money to other funds on behalf of your employees. -Use the ATO Clearing House. The ATO provides a free clearing house service for small business (under 19 employees or under $2 million turnover). You can provide the ATO with the details of the employee payments you need to make via their online portal, do a bank transfer for the total amount, and the ATO will distribute the funds to the appropriate superannuation funds on your behalf. There is some basic information you will need from your employees to set them up in any of these systems. You will need their Tax File Number, details of their superannuation fund and their member number, as well as the funds Unique Super Identifier number (USI) or fund ABN. An employer checklist is available on the ATO website that provides more information on becoming SuperStream compliant. https://www.ato.gov.au//Employer-checklist--a-step-by-st/ If you have any questions about Superstream, or how to become compliant, please contact our office for further advice.

This means that anyone who earns over $80,000 will see a reduction in the PAYG deducted from their pay. 13.01.2022 The ATO have extended the timeframe for small businesses to become Superstream compliant. The deadline is still 30th June 2016, but the ATO have said they will provide "compliance flexibility" until 28th October 2016, meaning they wont take action against non-compliant business until after that date. To become Superstream compliant businesses must report and pay their superannuation obligations electronically. This can be achieved by using payroll software, using a super fun...ds online system, a messaging portal, or using a clearing house. If you have any questions about Superstream and becoming compliant, please contact our office. https://www.ato.gov.au//extra-time-to-become-superstream-/

01.01.2022 In February, a new banking platform is to be launched called the New Payments Platform or NPP. Behind the scenes, thirteen financial institutions (including the four major banks and the Reserve Bank of Australia) have worked on developing this platform over the past several years. The NPP will mean that transfers between third party bank accounts will happen within minutes, as opposed to overnight or even 2 -3 days as is the case now. It will also allow descriptions on transa...ctions to be up to 260 characters long, making it much clearer what the transaction is about. Shortly, your bank will be in touch to ask you to register for a PayID. The PayID is unique to you, and can be your email address, phone number or ABN . If someone wants to pay you for something, you can quote them your PayID instead of your BSB and bank account number, and they can make the payment immediately online. Your PayID is secure. No one can access your banking details or withdraw money with your PayID. You can also still use your BSB and account number if you dont wish to register for a PayID. Further information about the PayID can be found on the PayID website. https://www.payid.com.au/ It is important to note that when the banks start sending emails about registering for PayID that spammers may also start sending emails designed to look like PayID registration instructions. Banks will never ask you for personal details or passwords via email. Examine any email purporting to be from your bank very closely. There are often spelling and grammar mistakes or odd web links and email addresses in spam emails. If you are unsure about whether an email is legitimate, contact your bank.
