25.01.2022 Christine Kerr of Christine Kerr Cake Design Christine lives with her husband and two sons in the beautiful coastal town of Newcastle on the east coast of Austr...alia, just over an hour drive north of Sydney. Her career began at the end of 1984 after leaving school. She was offered a job to train as a cake decorator in the local cake shop. This provided the creative outlet she craved and led to long career in the industry with a few proud highlights along the way. Specialising in fondant, Buttercream, chocolate, modelling, sculpting and flower making, Christine’s passion is teaching, she enjoys passing on her knowledge and skills to her students. Christine has two companies, one called The Raspberry Butterfly Cake Decorating School, and the other is Cake Me Away Cruises which conducts cake decorating lessons by world renowned teachers on a cruise ship, while cruising the Australian coast. A proud moment in Christine’s career was being offered a contract with Satin Ice, becoming one of 60 Satin Ice Artists Of Excellence world wide. After 33 years working in the industry she is still excited about the new trends and techniques around today, while still enjoying the timeless classics from years gone by. Christine believes it’s never too late to learn something new.

02.01.2022 A busy day at work yesterday! Piping cupcakes with a 2D tip. My tip - hold the piping bag at a 90 degree angle and just slightly above the cupcake before you start piping. Let the icing fall into place as you begin piping from the middle to the outer edges of the cupcake. Have fun with it!
