12.01.2022 AND THE WINNER IS. Thank you to everyone who entered the competition and for sharing your special photos. It was a very close contest with so many wonderful entries. And now, I’m delighted to announce the winning entry is: Cathy Klease’s Tom Cat.... The winner was chosen because the image aligns most closely with my Artist Statement: I like to create dramatic effects using powerful contrasts in tone..., and the simplicity of forms in any setting really captivate me. I was really taken by Cathy’s photo. The cat being illuminated by the light of the lamp creates a wonderful glow and provides a stunning contrast with the dramatic dark background. The pure and simple forms of both the cat and the lamp are well balanced and create a beautiful and pleasantly modest composition. Congratulations, Cathy! I can’t wait to start your painting.
