25.01.2022 Back on site today to continue with the joinery for a renovation that had been put on hold due to COVID restrictions in metro Melbourne. Still a little to do in the kitchen but nearly there.

21.01.2022 How great is this? Thanks to the fantastic team ABC Education, loving the videos. Our next generation of makers!

21.01.2022 Have dinner on us. Speaking of, what’s your pick for the best local takeaway?

19.01.2022 It’s been a slow week with a sore thumb but recovery is going well. I made this lovely 3m long Messmate TV cabinet a while back to match the owners dining table and suit their audio equipment.

16.01.2022 Interesting times here in Victoria, made a little brighter by the delivery of this beautiful Awl made by @glenrundellchairmaker. This was a present for my daughter Emily who is a hands on creative being. It’s lovely to know this is a lifetime tool that will solve a lot of little problems for her.

16.01.2022 Hi there, Lauren here. Unfortunately yesterday - Chris came off second best with a panel saw. Surgery booked in for this afternoon. But here’s a thumbs up from the man himself. We will be in touch with all our customers very soon. Thank you

16.01.2022 With many restrictions here in Victoria it has been a strange learning time. These new coasters are off to two customers (coincidentally with the same initials) and I’m thinking they with become a new product to compliment my drinks cabinets. These are Burr Walnut and Burr Elm with Black Ash lettering. @ Christopher Scott - Furniture Maker

16.01.2022 A fun Saturday night in front of the fire. I’ve had this idea bouncing around for a long while to do some dragon scale parquetry. This is a sample from black walnut with Huon stringing and Macassar Ebony banding. Let me know your thoughts and have a great weekend.

15.01.2022 This Blackwood Mid Century inspired bookcase had been planned for this spot when the house was built. It’s certainly a statement but I love it. Many thanks to its owners for the opportunity to bring it to life.

15.01.2022 I love when customers send me the finished pictures of their renovations. This Messmate vanity was made for a local family and fitted with touch open drawers and a beautiful @dlh_designs basin.

14.01.2022 Working with burr walnut and other burr veneers is one of those challenges I love. Every book of matched veneer is so unique like a fingerprint that one mistake can ruin a entire piece, but the rewards are that you can create the most beautiful patterns. Creating these pieces is a kind of stress while have a smile on your face the whole time.

14.01.2022 Thumbs up Hello, Lauren here again! Chris will definitely want to put the last days few days into his own words and also thank you all. But I just wanted to do a quick update, that surgery went amazing. Home and recovering well. Thanks for all your support.. now let’s get this crazy bugger back to work

09.01.2022 Back from some radio silence from myself. It’s 4 weeks to the day I had an argument with my panel saw and I’ve been recovering well. I was lucky enough not the hit the bone or cut through any tendons but I definitely did do a good job of it. I nearly wasn’t going to post any pictures of my thumb but it is now part of my story and an extremely simple mistake in hindsight. These accidents happen in a flash or more rightly a bump and it happen just as simple as moving my left ha...nd forward to remove an off cut. I had been ripping some boards to width and out of good habits I had the blade set one saw tip above the cut. This actually saved my thumb or it would have been off. It has slowed me up but I’m back at it in the workshop, I owe a massive thank you to all of the well wishes and customers that instantly said to not worry and get better. I have had a few weeks to think about things, processes and my passage forward. The future looks pretty exciting and I’m glad to still have my left thumb to come along for the ride. If you got this far down thank you so much again. Chris See more

09.01.2022 Another great video from ABC Education, great to watch with the kids!

06.01.2022 Masks, by makers! The Lost Trades Fair are providing meaningful paid work to makers across regional Australia that have lost their jobs in the past months. $15 inc delivery: https://rundell-rundell.myshopify.com//face-masks-by-groun

03.01.2022 I love this photo that my lovely @lozduncombe took at this years Lost Trades Fair. It shows 3 generations of my family in a setting we adore. This is my father being shown through the astronomers cabinet with my daughter Emily while I’m chatting and demonstrating my veneer work. I learnt my trade though an apprenticeship at my fathers restoration workshop, starting full time when I was 15years old. My life’s passion as a timber craftsman has lead me to many opportunities but I’m most proud of it right now working in my own workshop with a family alongside. At 38 I’ve got over 22 years at the workbench behind me but with another 30+ ahead I’m excited to continue the journey.

01.01.2022 Thank you ABC Education for this video, featuring our daughter Emily at the Lost Trades Fair. We love being able to share our story and hopefully inspire the next generation of makers. https://education.abc.net.au/home
