18.01.2022 : Akii was awarded the ‘2020 Australian Disability Social Impact Leader! Akii was a finalist and then announced the recipient of the award for National Disability Leadership Awards: Social Impact Category’ Congratulations to Akii! We are proud to announce that our Executive Director, Akii Ngo has been nominated and announced as finalist for the Disability Leadership Institute Australian National Disability Leadership awards. The winners will be announced later toda...y as today is International Day of People with Disability. #IDPwD Akii believes that all people including people with disabilities deserve to live a fulfilling and joyful life, despite barriers and challenges that may relate to their disabilities and/or chronic pain. Akii is incredibly passionate about this and believes in a world of access and inclusion for all people with disabilities, chronic pain or both. Many Australians living with chronic pain also have disabilities or are disabled by their chronic pain and vice versa. Akii highlights that the world of disability and chronic pain have been quite separated but believes there’s many opportunities for support and connection for people living with chronic pain in the disability sector - including NDIS supports. In light of the changes recently with opioid access in Australia and the countless number of distress, harm and forced tapering for Australians with chronic pain, Akii believes there is so much more needs that needs to be done for people living with chronic pain - we need better support services, we need less waiting lists, we need better community supports and less awaiting times for interventions - Australians living with chronic pain should NOT continue to suffer in silence and be ignored. Chronic Pain Australia will continue to work hard to reduce the barriers related to appropriate care and support for Australians living with chronic pain. Akii states that whether or not Akii wins this award, Akii’s passion, drive and fight will never stop. Akii will keep fighting for fellow Australians who are suffering like Akii is. We deserve better, we need to be treated better and we need to stop being forgotten and failed. Thank you all for your supports so far of Chronic Pain Australia’s missions and goals as the national grassroots voices for Australians living with chronic pain. For our community members who want to further support what we are doing, please either purchase a ‘Living with Chronic Pain looks like me’ t-shirt or make a tax deductible donation on our website.

07.01.2022 : This campaign finished yesterday 10th December. The supplier has apologised to us that there have been major delays with their printing times and also some delays with AusPost that haven't helped. But orders should arrive within 10-14 business days from now for those who have already ordered. We also apologise on their behalf and thank you to those who have purchased a top to support us! However, because the campaign had some major challenges, our fundraising targ...ets were not even closely being met and we actually faced some losses. So the plan is we will again sometime early next year (not as a fundraising campaign) but as an , and will incorporate and all the many suggestions we have received this time around, including having font colours in black & white (to be compatible with black coloured t-shirts), having items like tank tops (for those with pain in their arms or to wear to the gym) and also international shipping! Keep your eyes peeled for next years’ announcement . See more
