25.01.2022 Dear Wonderful Patrons of Place - THANK-YOU We cannot express how elated we are with the outcome of the recent @chrysalisprojects fundraiser. Working with you, our amazing community, Avid Reader Bookshop, Vernon Ah Kee we raised a grand $60 226. Not only will this money enable the project to come to fruition, but it is also proof that the community greatly values meaningful Art projects in their Place and that together we can do incredible things! ... In many recent events it is clear that the old economic, social and power structures are no longer serving us the community. COVID for all it’s serious impacts including loss of many lives and livelihoods also revealed the precarity of the creative sector across all art forms. It also revealed how much as a community we missed connections through the arts, visiting gallery’s, opening nights, the live experience of music and theatre. Because the arts is where we can have challenging conversations about inequality sexism, racism and class. We have witnessed semiotic shifts, even in recent days where those believing they are being protected by their fortress of privilege and Power are being called out and made accountable for their violence and abuse. The disruption of COVID and climate change calls for real cultural, systemic change and Chrysalis Projects is about forging this, a new economy around the arts so that we can celebrate our Place and also champion change for a better world!
