24.01.2022 Draft Run Sheets for Saturday.

24.01.2022 I have had a couple of questions relating to Covid-19 and the North Coast Regional Canoeing Championship. The last official information I received was on Thursday afternoon and stated that it is business as usual. This may change at any time and I will strive to let everyone know as soon as I have more information. Please note that due to high demand I have been unable to source hand sanitiser for the toilets. I will provide hand wash but recommend that you have your own supply of hand sanitiser. Mark Ellis.

21.01.2022 The 2019 NSW All Schools and Combined High Schools (CHS) Canoeing Championships were recently held on the Clarence River at Grafton at Hanging Rock on the Mann River. The event was a great success with more than 50 kids from 26 schools participating. It was amazing to see the improvement in all of the abilities of the kids from the State Champs last year. Being one of the driest summers on record, water levels on the Mann River were super low but once again the course designe...rs were surprised at the ability to make a slalom course in the narrow channels between the smooth rocks. The new venue has proven NNSW now has a 'drought proof' competition venue. Highlights of the competition included: - The overall trophy being won by Casino High, followed by Great Lakes College and Blaxland High. - Miranda Pulkkinen taking out the All Schools Women's Championship by winning all of the whitewater events she entered and recording the fastest womens slalom K1, whitewater sprint and wildwater times. - Callie Ellis taking out the CHS Women's Champion by winning most of the U14 women's events. - Declan Ellis taking out the All Schools and CHS Men's Champion, coming first or second in all his events and recording the fastest K1 and C1 slalom times. - Josh Lee having the fastest 500 m and 5000 m flatwater sprint, wildwater and whitewater sprint times prior to his trip oversees to represent Australia at the Junior Worlds next month. -Natalia Drobot having the fastest women's 500 m and 5000 m flatwater K1 times. - Jess Libreri winning all of the open women's events she entered. - Dominic Curtin winning eight out of nine 14 yr age group events he entered and placing highly in the overall individual champion point scoring. - Wins in various individual events by Keaton Pollington, Tara Everson, Casey Ellis, Danielle Latter, Brady McNeil, Camden Ceccato, Max Hamilton, Remy Taylor, Jackson Raward, Sophia Chen, Jaye Everson and Molly Gill. - High participation in C1, C2 and teams events. - A strong bunch of primary school entrants showing that the future of the sport is bright! A big thanks to Mark Ellis, the Big River Canoe Club crew and all of the volunteers who made the event such a success. The kids will now begin training for the Nationals event in Tassie in January

18.01.2022 CHS North Coast Regionals 2019 was a great comp and it was good to see a so many 'out-of-regioners' showing up for the event too. The weather was beautiful and although water levels were a bit low (being the driest summer on record!), the course at Hanging Rock on the Mann River still proved popular with the kids. It was good to see some of the city slickers having there first crack at Hanging Rock camping too ;) Highlights were: - Declan Ellis getting the fastest slalom time... - Josh Lee recording the fastest wildwater time - Jock Sweeney recording the fastest whitewater sprint time - Miranda Pulkkinen recording the fastest times for all three girls events (slalom, ww and sprints) - Casino High winning the most school points - The Ellis kids (Casey, Declan and Callie) winning the Senior Boys, Junior Boys and Sub Junior Girls point score - Tara Everson winning the Senior Girls score - Ally Cork winning the Junior Girls score Hope to see you all (and more) at the State Champs in May!
