16.01.2022 Woohoo! Its National Science Week There are so many great things happening and the best thing is you can do most of them from your own home! Tonight we have the 2020 Science Gig Deep Blue Online Packs can be still picked up from Smithton Library that contain cool experiments and materials for the MacGyver Challenge. Will your family take the title this year??? If you cant make it to the library a list of materials are on the previous post. ... The Science Trail is still live around Smithton.. take your entry form and look for clues in windows in the CBD. Can you spot the clues.. On Thursday we will be speaking live to Blue Governance Lab UTAS researchers who will be in town to do community surveys on Circular Head residents. They want to know how important the sea and coast are to your wellbeing. Listen into our Facebook live event and keep an eye out for them around town. We have also made a virtual tour of the JST Stanley Abalone farm. Have you always wondered how it works? Can you guess how many Abalone they have on site? (a clue it has 7 digits!) Watch to find out this and more... What can we do with the Marine Waste you find washed up on the beach? We interviewed Josie Riches to see how she makes her beautiful baskets from Marine Waste.. 14.01.2022 Wow what a fantastic night we had last night for the 2020 Science Gig! It was different not all being together but it was so much fun! Check out some of the great MacGyver Challenge rafts that families made! I think the most pegs was 101? Did anyone get higher than that? (I dont even think I have 100 pegs to put in a raft!) If you didnt get a chance, feel free to watch the cool experiments Mr Arnold, Wayne and his Dad did with water and have a go at the MacGyver Challenge... And dont forget to keep an eye out for our other events for National Science Week Tasmania

07.01.2022 Interactive Rockpools online for Science Week! Discovery Ranger Kristin found a great way to make rockpools fun and interactive online and no one even got their... feet wet. As part of Science Week, Circular Head Council took their whole program online due to COVID-19 restrictions and invited local schools to learn about our marine reserves with Discovery Ranger Kristin. Prep/1 students from Circular Head Christian School and St. Peter Chanel Catholic School had great fun learning pretending to be hungry anemones or predatory snails looking for a pipi milkshake.
