23.01.2022 $17.7 MILLION INVESTMENT IN THE CLARENCE VALLEY Today 3 job creating projects have been announced. Big River Group has been successful in securing $10 millio...n in funding to enhance their Grafton facility. It will create 20 new jobs and secure the 60 jobs that are already here. They currently have two main operating facilities, Wagga Wagga and Grafton. This funding will be used to consolidate their operations to Grafton. They are co-contributing $10 million, so the total investment is $20 million. Clarence Way is set for a $5 million upgrade. This funding will be used to seal sections from Keybarbin to Flagstone Creek. This is a key access road for local agricultural industries. It is also important for regional freight as it connects Grafton to the Bruxner Highway. $2.7 million will be used to install a roundabout at the intersection of Shores Drive and Yamba Road. It will boost road safety and provide better traffic flow for locals and tourists. Great to join my State colleague Chris Gulaptis MP to announce funding for these new projects. This funding will be provided through the Local Economic Recovery Fund, co-funded by the NSW and Federal Governments. Well done to Clarence Valley Council and Big River Group on great projects.

14.01.2022 HELLO EVERYONE: just a quick shout out to say hello and a BIG THANK YOU to Peter for holding the reigns of the Grafton Farmers Market. Peter asked me if I would... like to take over the running of the Grafton Farmers Market quite a few months ago. To do this I had to apply for a new DA and Licence which are now done. So the new Licensee / Coordinator is Debrah Novak who runs the Yamba Farmers and Producers Market. She has run the Yamba Farmers and Producers Market for just over two years and has 43 stall holders. Stall holders and customers say this market is highly revered throughout the North Coast. The most critical thing for a farmers market stall holder is to have shade. This has now been achieved by relocating the market back under the Jacaranda trees and to its rightful home Market Square. Market Square has a long proud history of gatherings and it is in this spirit we will operate our market with its new name Grafton Twilight Farmers Market. It will take us a couple of weeks to bed the market down but we have 25 stall holders starting with us next Thursday. It will be small to begin with but we hope to grow it to about 45 ASAP. We are looking forward to meeting you all and building a trusting relationship with our community. (PS we have a COVID - 19 plan in place) See more

13.01.2022 THE PACIFIC HIGHWAY UPGRADE IS FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last section south of Woodburn is set to open this weekend. What an amazing job it has been to watch th...is get built over the last 7 years. The section between Woolgoolga and Ballina cost $5 billion, is 144 kilometres long and will be - FINISHED THIS WEEKEND!!! This is certainly an historic event for our community. It is now a safer road, there will be less fatalities and quicker travel times. More than 3000 people were employed on this project at its peak period with many more indirect jobs created. The number of fatal crashes on the highway has more than halved since the upgrade started. The overall travel distance between Woolgoolga and Ballina will be about 13 kilometres shorter and travel time will be about 25 minutes faster. Through construction there has been over 15 million cubic metres of earthwork completed. This has been Australia’s largest concrete paving job, with more than 785,000 cubic metres of concrete for paving completed. More than 240,000 tonnes of asphalt has been used for paving, and more than 8,900 precast concrete elements have been used. There are 170 bridges over rivers, creeks, and floodplains, including major bridges crossing the Clarence and Richmond rivers. Very exciting. Thank you to everyone involved in the construction. For information about this upgrade, click this link: https://www.pacifichighway.nsw.gov.au/
