24.01.2022 For some reason, this story is also translated into Arabic: https://www.makeittasmania.com.au//%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B/4136/ Looking forward to getting the cafe up and running as soon as possible. Thanks everyone for your patience.

24.01.2022 Chudleigh General Store has been operating since 1886. It offers fresh cafe meals, convenience foods, local crafts and a chance to slow down and experience "the good old days".

23.01.2022 Venture back in time at Chudleigh Store. We have two free hampers up for grabs. They are filled with nostalgic gifts. One for the kids and one for the adults. All you have to do to enter is to 1. Supply a baby photo of yourself for our 'match the face' guessing competition and 2. Rummage in your old photo albums to find an unpublished photo taken in and around the Meander Valley. Alternatively, if you don't have a photo, provide a yarn about life in earlier times. Winners will be selected after a minimum of 30 entries are received.

23.01.2022 Day For Girls’ Lois Beckwith and friend popped in to Chudleigh General Store on their way to Mole Creek Hotel for a function, this week, to check on me. What wonderful, caring friends I have here in Tassie. I learnt yesterday that my flight to Sydney to see my hubbie and kids has been cancelled. Let’s hang in there everyone, we need to stay strong and avoid the Victorian experience. If anyone needs an ear, when feeling low, you can always bend it by dialling me at the shop 63636138. The cafe isn’t open, but I’m here most days selling fuel, a few groceries and the like.

21.01.2022 It was wonderful to meet the descendants of previous owners of Chudleigh General Store, recently. Saturday's 60th anniversary, of Chudleigh Hall, next door, enabled me to meet some wonderful people who either grew up in my store or had a strong association with those that did. These included: Mandy Cox, Leanne Linger (who worked in the shop when she was 15) Gaylene Haberle, Jenny Chilcott and Jayne and Pam Evans. It was great to hear what life, in and around the shop, was like back then. We now plan to have a bit of a get together of our own for those connected to the shop. Anyone interested, or who thinks they know someone who might be, can contact the shop, 03 63636138.

20.01.2022 A wonderful charity fundraiser in Chudleigh General Store on Sunday resulted in $620 raised for underprivileged girls in Nepal. About 300 girls will be given female hygiene and dignity kits made by Meander Valley women as a result of the money raised. These kits contain handmade underwear, fabric liners, soaps and washers to enable these impoverished and isolated young villagers to attend school during menstruation. Without such kits, these young women lose 1.5 months of schooling every year, because they are female. About 20 people attended the Day For Girls fundraiser and enjoyed afternoon tea, conversation and took part in a raffle for a beautiful quilt. Sue Bellamy was the lucky winner.

19.01.2022 Another great performance from Uke Nomad in the shop for a Valentines Day Concert. This was a celebration of love for the Earth as well as each other. More music and charity events planned for next month.

17.01.2022 Sadly, because of the uncertainty of the Corona virus impact on social gatherings, the poetry event on 22nd of March has been postponed until further notice. Thanks so much to everyone for their interest and support in this event. The Chudleigh General Store remains committed to creating events at the shop that are of interest and also create employment opportunities for the area. This is our interest and commitment. We value your support in these uncertain times.

10.01.2022 Trudy just walked in to the store to say that a little agitation on her part, to the Transport Minister, has paid off. She has just received word that the bus service, between Mole Creek and Launceston, for adults, is going to be back up and running on school days only. Thanks so much, Trudy, for all your hard work. The community is truly grateful.... So many people without licences, including the elderly and infirm, stood to be isolated without the action of such people. So, if you see Trudy, let her know you value her contribution. Have a free coffee on us, next time you are in the Chudleigh General Store, Trudy.
