24.01.2022 Perth Chinese New Year Fair | The Perth Chinese New Year Fair is now officially opened!!! Today, Chung Wah CAC has set up a game booth at the Perth Chinese New Year Fair. ... The Wishing Vase was inspired by a traditional East Asian game known as Pitch-pot, and can be dated back to 260BCE. Initially popular among the elites as a drinking game and to hone survival hunting skills and warfare. It later spread to other classes and Asian countries, including Korea and Japan. 23.01.2022 WA Seniors Week acknowledges and celebrates older people for their valued contribution, and this year the WA Seniors Week taking place from 8th - 16th November. Despite its name Seniors Week is not just for seniors it’s for people of all ages. For this year’s Seniors Week, Chung Wah CAC has organised various activities to celebrate our seniors to encourage active ageing and bring opportunities for our younger generations to get together and learn from each other. We have... organised a series of activities at our Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs for the Seniors Week where our seniors and our CAC community have all actively participated in fun games, wellness exercises, and dancing, etc. Both community hubs have also prepared delicious snacks such as quiche where our consumers have thoroughly enjoyed this and many other foreign cuisines and the special activities. The key mission of Chung Wah CAC is to improve the daily lives of seniors. Therefore, our Willetton and Balcatta Community Hubs have been providing a vast array of activities and excursions to enrich the social life of the seniors. These activities can help seniors from different cultural backgrounds to connect and hence help them to avoid social isolation. 20.01.2022 It was our great pleasure for having Kate from Cancer Council Western Australia as our presenter for the health talk Bowel Cancer to our consumers and community members yesterday at our Balcatta Hub. With the English to Chinese translation assistance by our Chung Wah CAC staff Shirley, our consumers were able to understand the bowel cancer screening kits and ask Kate some relevant questions during the health talk. 17.01.2022 An elderly man found a lamp drifted onto the shore. He rubbed the lamp, and a genie appears granting the elderly three wishes. The elderly man replied, I hope to regain my youthful beauty, to live independently, and finally, to regain my dignity. We live in a world where genies and magical hocus-pocus are merely the product of fantasy fictions; however, the elderly’s wishes are not outrageous nor unreasonable. In fact, these are the wishes shared by many elderlies. While we... like to pride ourselves as miracle workers but Chung Wah CAC definitely doesn’t know any magic, and our sole purpose, together with our community is to realise these three wishes for our seniors, a step at a time. During this year’s Christmas celebrations held at the Balcatta and Willetton community hubs, our CEO of Chung Wah CAC Mrs Theresa Kwok presented to our seniors with a surprise gift, a photo portrait of the elderly that was professionally shot by our very talented volunteer photographer. These portraits froze a beautiful moment of our seniors to realise their first wish visually: to regain their timeless beauty. Once our seniors have received their portraits, they were filled with happiness and praise as they admired each other’s portrait. After the presentation, Mrs Kwok continued her address by officially announcing the beginning of the Golden Era theme for 2021. She emphasised that these portraits merely represent the external beauty of our seniors and the first step towards a deeper level of beauty. Through the participation of our CAC in-centre activities and the Evergreen College through a variety of workshops and excursions, our team and our seniors will work together to achieve their wish to live a beautiful life, one that improves self-care abilities, physical and mental health, self-cultivation while having lots of fun and meeting new friends. If you or your loved ones are interested in our exciting 2021 Golden Era program, please contact our friendly CAC team. phone: 93283988 | email: [email protected] : : CACCACCAC BalcattaWillettonCAC 2021CAC : CACCAC 202193283988 | [email protected]
16.01.2022 Important Announcement for CAC Longevity Luncheon 2021 - CAC2021 The show will go on... postpone by one week. The 9th annual CNY Longevity Luncheon is one of the most anticipated events on the Chung Wah CAC calendar. This sold-out event provides an excellent opportunity to reunite our community to celebrate longevity and share wellness stories. ... In addition to the outstanding cultural performances and delicious Asian cuisine, our Longevity Luncheon’s essence lies in our community, our participating seniors, families, and friends, which makes this event so exceptional. While WA has been very fortunate with no further case of COVID-19 since the hard lockdown, we want to ensure our community’s health and safety, to fully enjoy the food and the unique program we have prepared for our participants. For this reason, our Longevity Luncheon Committee has decided to postpone the event by one week. The new date is set for the following Thursday 25 February with other details remain unchanged. As the temperature begins to rise, and a time where seedling grows much quicker. Many crops seeded in spring can be harvested in the summer.... In ancient China, people believed a round egg symbolised a happy life and eating eggs on the day of the Beginning of Summer was a prayer for good health. 03.01.2022 In order to provide better service to our community, we must have a huge heart! And what is equally important is having the most up-to-date training from the industry's leading experts. Our team at Chung Wah CAC regularly participate in vocational training where they sacrifice their personal time and to better their skills and knowledge to achieve higher quality service. A recent weekend training session held at the Balcatta Community Centre had more than 90 of our front-line... staff attended. This training focused on the topics that our team often encounter while caring for the elderly, and the session was delivered by Mr James Wong, a seasoned care professional and Ms Esther Chang, Chairwoman of CAC Independent Management Committee. During the session, everyone was very enthusiastic in taking notes and asked many questions while many after the session expressed how much they have learned and how beneficial having attended the training.
