25.01.2022 Check the latest news from State Minister, Peter Barney

25.01.2022 STATE YOUTH GAMES CONVID-19 STATEMENT We want to reassure you that the safety of our participants, our team and our community is, and always has been, a top priority. We are continually monitoring the CONVID-19 situation as it develops and working through all our options for State Youth Games 2020. ... Because SYG is still a few months away, we are continuing with the planning and setup for the event, with the hope the situation improves. The State Youth Games website is up and running but weve delayed our mail-out promotion and opening of the registration area. As things move forward we will open registration as soon as we can. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops, for the better or worse. www.stateyouthgames.net

24.01.2022 Our final day of Convention has been a full and inspiring day of input, relationships and conversations. We are encouraged by the diversity of churches represented and celebrating together.

24.01.2022 Talking the Walk - An approach to reflection for ministry formation in our everyday journey Speaker: Bruce Hulme, Senior Lecturer and Head of Ministry at Tabor College, with input from Churches of Christ, Master of Divinity student Verity Riessen

23.01.2022 Weve just kicked off Churches of Christ Convention with the G.R. Stirling Lecture @ Tabor College with guest speaker Bruce Hulme, Director of Ministry. Full house!

23.01.2022 We’ll be streaming our AGM live for those who wish to observe from 7pm tonight. Check back in on our page to view tonight.

23.01.2022 It is with great regret that I inform you that State Youth Games 2020 on June long weekend has been officially postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. This decision was reached earlier than anticipated due to the rapidly unfolding situation and advice from the Government and health leaders. I am sure this doesn't come as a surprise to many. While we will not gather as a community in person this June, the SYG Taskforce will continue to meet regularly online, and we w...ill explore every possible way to reschedule for later the year, support churches and encourage young people through this crazy time. We don't know what that might look like yet, but we are keen to ensure that the momentum and community of SYG continues. We'll be back and better than ever. God bless Carl Milne Youth Connections Facilitator On behalf of the SYG Taskforce

19.01.2022 Youth Vision SA Update Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and especially to those who are close to the new outbreak areas during this COVID-19 outbreak. With the current situation being so fresh and far from being contained, we think it’s best to postpone our upcoming combined Youth Together night until early next year. Moving to a safer and healthy time for us all to meet and engage together without any overwhelming stresses. ... Our youth ministers and workers will continue to engage together online over next month, encouraging, supporting and planning direction together as we move forward into 2021. Take care.

13.01.2022 COVID-19 caused State Youth Games to be cancelled for 2020, but with a small release of the restrictions, an opportunity opened up for 120 youth and young adults to gather at Aldgate Church of Christ for an amazing night of worship, testimony, prayer and community time. A night of youth leading youth, peers praying for peers and all the glory given to an awesome God. Plans are well underway for more joint youth ministry nights, the first planned for the 27th November, and then one per term in 2021. #Participate2020

12.01.2022 Peters induction last night was a great celebration of our churches gathered together anticipating a new season.

12.01.2022 Over the weekend we celebrated with Sonny Pilay retiring from 27 of ministry with the Living Waters (Loxton) Church of Christ and a total of 40 years in congregational ministry with Churches of Christ in SA. We celebrate these many years of faithfulness and longevity, particularly with the church at Loxton and wish Sonny & Wendy many more fruitful years in this next chapter of their lives.

11.01.2022 Some news from @Elizabeth Church of Christ on how they are participating in life in Christ. Living Hope was formed in 2018 to provide support for parents who are living with, or supporting family members, who are either addicted to substances or suffering from mental health issues. When a person is caught up in addiction or suffering from mental health problems it not only affects them but also the wider family. It is particularly difficult for the parents who often feel like... they are the only ones grappling with these issues. This group is run by Pat Cailes and Mark Zerna and meets once a month with about 14 people being involved. The meetings usually consist of a presentation either by video or a guest speaker on a topic that is relevant for those present. Then there is an opportunity for anyone to share what has been happening in their situation and it ends with a time of praying for each other. A variety of resources is available for group members and connections have been made with a local Christian counsellor and a drug service called Drug Arm. As drug use continues to escalate around us, this type of support service will become increasingly important. We are praying about setting up similar ministry in Elizabeth South where our church has an op shop and a small café. #Participate2020

08.01.2022 In August we brought you a story about how Aldgate Church of Christ At the Village Well is participating in God's mission through innovative community engagement. Creative Arts Minister, Verity Riessen, had been working all year with various community groups and a local art curator to hold an exhibition this weekend titled 'Hope'. With news of the recent lockdown last week it appeared the exhibition was postponed indefinitely. We have received news it is back on and launching... at 2pm this Saturday November 28th. State MP for Heysen, Josh Teague will be launching the exhibition which will be on display to the public for 5 days. Please come along to engage stories of hope through art. Appropriately titled 'Hope', this exhibition was originally designed to offer a community response to the Cuddly Creek bushfire that devestated the Adelaide Hills region in December 2019. Plans for the exhibition were disrupted in March this year due to COVID-19. Now the exhibition has incorporated a response to the pandemic as well, including art from local schools, nursing homes, community groups and more. Many genres of art will be available to interact with including visual, performance, living, recorded and more. Here are a few pictures from the Aldgate Church of Christ facebook page to give you a glimpse and to inform you on how the local media has picked up on this story. There is also a link here to a radio interview Verity gave last night. Scroll down the page to '4PM: Life Bursts' - 25 Nov 2020 recording to listen to her talk about the inspiration behind the exibition - Hope. #participate2020 http://live.hillsradio.com.au/index.php/hrondemandwednesday/
