25.01.2022 Enrolments opening July 13th for 3 and 4 year old kinder. Give us a call term 3 if you would like to visit our kindergarten

25.01.2022 Over a number of sessions the children have been interested in building cubbies. We began with a construction set and sheets then moved into creating cubbies with boxes. Today our boxes created a drive through cafe! The children worked together to turns lining up to order food from their friends. We even practiced social distancing with spots on the floor. The children guided their own play, created their own menu and also created the money they used in their play. We all had a lot of fun at the drive through cafe today

25.01.2022 Church Hill Kinder will be joining in on the Dress to Impress Day fun this friday We hope to see lots of other community groups raising funds to honour our young local friends who have sadly passed this year https://fb.me/e/28L3Z8wi4

23.01.2022 Some wonderful times to help our little ones

23.01.2022 Today our play with boxes become a real life game from the book 'dear zoo' when the children decided they wanted to mail eachother away to "the jungle" "the rainforest" and "africa" some even had care instructions "don't forget to feed everyday". Their friends pretended to be animals and they were packed into the box to be sent away. Everyone in the kinder shared a good laugh over this game. It then prompted us to read the book again and reset up the play experience from earlier in the year which was enjoyed by many. While the children were left to play out the story we explored words we could use to explain why a certain animal wasn't suitable as a pet. The children used words such as "fierce" "bitey" "slimy" "loud" "tall" to help them build on their language and communication skills.

17.01.2022 This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC week by learning about and celebrating the indigenous culture, our nation's first people. Today the children become highly engaged with the book 'In Your Dreams' by Sally Morgan and Bronwyn Bancroft. As they listened to the story there was many little "wow" sounds and "that's so pretty" as they looked at the beautiful artwork within the book. We then continued the engagement by participating in a rainbow meditation where the childre...n were guided to imagine a rainbow. In our minds we created a rainbow across the sky, using all the colours and patterns from the story. The children rose from the ground very relaxed. This continued through to the tables where the children were encouraged to paint their meditation 'dream'. The pictures created were beautiful, the children took a lot to love and care with their creations. We hung them straight onto the wall where the children continued to admire their hard work into the afternoon

11.01.2022 Playdough is a firm favourite at Church Hill but this week we had all new playdough inspiration with our black playdough. Black was suggested by one of the children while talking about what a 'halloween' playdough colour might be. After the educators reflected on how we could make playdough black (using powder paint) it was created and lots of sparkly loose parts and glitter shakers were added to the table to use. This has been the most popular space in the kinder for the last 2 sessions with so much making, creating and skill building being done.

08.01.2022 Today we finally found our little froggy friend!! For a number of weeks we have been able to hear croaking and hunted for him (or her) but he was never found. Today while Nicole moved something sitting in the garden his hiding spot appeared. After some quiet excitement so we didn't scare him we watched him for a while and have put him in a tank with lots of damp leaves and some water. We will bring him inside for a few days while we study him and learn about frogs before releasing him back into his garden.

07.01.2022 There's nothing like laying under a big tree chatting to your friends Some moments may seem simple but here we watched the children engage in reciprocal conversations, creating friendship connections, they were engaged in exploring all the colour shades of the leaves and sharing their understanding about birds who may live in this tree. This is also a beautiful moment showing why our combined program can be so enriching. Younger friends learning from their older friends.

In the midst of the pandemic, who would have thought they could achieve it in 2020? ‘As a team we’ve had to shift to innovative ways of connecting with kindergarten staff and their families so it turns out this year was the perfect opportunity to deliver this initiative via webinar,’ Elisia explains. ‘This webinar highlights just one of many innovative ideas our School Readiness Team has brought to life in 2020 to ensure we’re delivering capacity-building to preschool, FoundationGrade 1 teachers and families across our region. We’ve also delivered professional learning via Zoom/Webex to teachers; pre-recorded professional learning on topics covering communication, wellbeing and access/inclusion; developed remote learning resources; developed social media content for kindergartens; delivered Teacher TalkTM to Glenelg and CPSG teachers; and delivered the School Readiness Scoop for kindergarten families to build knowledge across our priority areas.’
