25.01.2022 Euphonium is Greek for good or beautiful sound, and our euphonium players certainly made that at our second low brass workshop on Monday. With low brass maestros Peter Younghusband and Bill McAllister working their magic, our young musicians had the opportunity to rehearse and perform together, working on the production of a good sound. We will have a couple more of these low brass sessions in Term 4 for our tuba and euphonium students, finishing with a combined performance at the end of the year.

07.01.2022 Heavy Metal in action! The Churchlands Tuba players (or tubists) had the chance today to work together with professional tuba player Steve Harmer. Being a tuba player in a band or orchestra is normally quite a solitary existence. While they are an essential member of a band or orchestra, there is usually only one of them per band or orchestra, and chances to collaborate are limited. We are planning a series of workshops between now and the end of the year to shine the spotlight on our Tuba end Euphonium players the real Heavy Metal musicians in the school.
