01.01.2022 Tuesday 25th Dinner at Chus We have been here a few times- never had a bad meal. Our main problem is not ordering too much or making sure what we do order can b...e reheated for lunch! Tonight it was Spring rolls to start- lovely and crisp, not greasy, the dipping sauce had a nice chilli and fish sauce kick Chicken satays entree- the chicken is moist but has a slight crispiness to it. The sauce is full of peanut but also with a lovely spice flavour and again, not oily or greasy. Salt and pepper soft shell crab- this is one of their chef specials and it is divine. Often when we've had soft shell crab- the crab isn't cleaned to our liking so you will get a mouthful of something not as nice every now and again. This has never happened here. The flavours of the crab are clean and sweet. They are deep fried and tossed with this lovely spicy salt and pepper mix. The serve is very generous and delicious. Crispy beef with peking sauce- another chefs special- not too sweet and crispy beef that is still moist inside. The sauce is lovely and doesn't drown the beef. Vegetable stirfry- perfectly cooked- still crisp with a nice sauce that doesn't clash with anything else Special fried rice- can just eat this happily on it's own- full of flavour and quality ingredients. And we finished with fried icecream with caramel sauce- this is the best example of this dish we've had. The sauce isn't sweet, the icecream isn't 'icy' and the crumb is crisp but not really thick. There is a lovely 'orange flower' note to this that really helps keep it fresh and light but doesn't turn it into an orange flavour. Very clever- the consistency of the food is excellent- have been here a few times over the last 18months and always a good meal. Bookings recommended.
