22.01.2022 Tuscany - Italian Riviera - Lake Como Day 12: Bellagio (if we were here) Lake Como, Italy's deepest lake (425m), is 46kms long with 160kms of shoreline and home to ridiculously beautiful villages that you seriously never want to leave. Cadenabbia, Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio are all located in the middle of the lake where the two branches meet, all easily explored with the ferries crisscrossing all day until well past nightfall. Heavenly Bellagio, our home for the next three days, is a sheer delight to wander starting with the climbing, narrow cobblestoned streets to the many tiny hamlets that sit on the promontory surrounded by glorious gardens.

21.01.2022 Tuscany - Italian Riviera - Lake Como Day 14: Bellagio (if we were here) No visit to Bellagio is complete without taking a walk to the tiny white church called San Martino perched on a ridge overlooking Cadenabbia. There is a feeling of total tranquility as you gaze upon the stunning vista of the two branches of Lago di Como. Back down at the lake shore we are a mere 40 minutes from St. Moritz. Lunch in Menaggio is simple but oh so delicious accompanied by an aperol spritz!

17.01.2022 Tuscany - Italian Riviera - Lake Como Day 13: Bellagio (if we were here) How surreal the lake is when out for a morning kayak. As our local guide, Michele, says "The best way to see the lake is on the lake". Take a 15 minute picturesque stroll across the promontory from Bellagio and you reach a tiny fishing village called Pescallo. At the beginning of the 13th century, cute little Pescallo was one of three places on Lake Como providing the largest quantity of fish to the market in Como. It is kayaking paradise to glide from the Lecco branch around the corner to the Como branch. And what's a kayak without Prosecco at the finish?

07.01.2022 Tuscany - Italian Riviera - Lake Como Day 11: Santa Margherita, Portofino, San Fruttuoso (if we were here) So many great elements to this magic day beginning with a stunning 5km coastal walk from seaside Santa Margherita via tiny Paraggi to picture perfect Portofino. Where better for lunch than an intimate trattoria on a pebbly beach in a secluded cove reached only by boat or foot? As we leave San Fruttuoso you can see from the stern of the boat how truly secluded it is. Divers from around the world come to see The Christ of the Abyss, a larger than life bronze statue embedded on the seafloor 15 metres below the surface. On our return to Portofino, Lorenzo ferries us back to Santa Margherita in his private wooden boat where Dany is waiting to drive us home to Monterosso al Mare, a little over an hour's drive away. Love this day!

04.01.2022 Four tours in the last two months and what an amazing time we all would have had, if we'd been here, BUT life has a way of challenging us when we least expect it. Needless to say, September and October tours are no more. Despite continued uncertainty, I look to 2021 quietly confident that I will return to my beloved Italy that I miss so much to share everything that is amazing with my travellers. Italy will be ready for us, warm and welcoming and ready to spoil us. Grazie mille to everyone who has travelled with me over the years, many of you not once but several times, and thank you for following me the last two months. Hopefully the photos have kept Italy alive for you and will inspire you to return because Italy truly is a country to fall in love with time and time again. xx
