25.01.2022 This etching and aquatint by Ian Grant captures the ambience of the Australian landscape: simultaneously still, sparse, and wonderfully rich. The subject matter... is timeless, instantly recognisable and imbued a sense of nostalgia by the artists use of moody colour palette and wistful clouds. The viewer becomes immersed in the landscape, easily able to imagine the warm, still air and sounds of various humming insects. A simple scene, perhaps, but a highly charged one. Animals are the subject matter of much of Noel McKennas oeuvre charming depictions of horses, cats and dogs f...ull of individual personality and quirky flair. As our friends at the National Portrait Gallery boldly state: Its a matter beyond dispute that in the entire history of Australian art, its Noel McKenna whos painted the liveliest rendition of the head of a Chihuahua. This etching and aquatint features what looks to be a bug-eyed French Bulldog, looking straight at the viewer attentively. 23.01.2022 The latest Cicada Press exhibition is opening on Saturday March 7 at 3pm at Project Gallery 90 on Oxford Street in Sydney. There will be an artist talk by Elisa...beth Cummings, Euan Macleod, Reg Mombassa, Alan Jones and myself about working with printmaking.
