25.01.2022 Looking for something to do this weekend - Let's Chalk about it, actually Let's Chalk about Mental Health!

24.01.2022 #DoYouKnowTownsville? Meet Josh Manning, street magician extraordinaire. Originally from #Newcastle, he’s called #Townsville home for the last four years. It was in a tunnel in a park on the NSW Central Coast that he found his love of #magic, where he stumbled across two boys doing tricks one day. They didn’t stay strangers in the park, Josh told us, as they linked up some time later and the people who inspired me, I became friends with. He said that his family was less ...than enthused at his love of magic, and that’s made it hard to perform for them. Still, the best reaction he’s ever received was from his father. The look on his face, he was speechless. That meant a lot to me, he said. If you’re interested in being the next stranger in the park, you can catch Josh busking near Gelatissimo on Palmer Street Saturday nights or at the markets on The Strand every month. Josh is another of our fascinating #TownsvilleLocals, and he’s available for weddings, parties, and other events if you’re ever in need of a magician. DM us if you or someone you know would like to be featured as our #locallegend! #StreetMagic #CloseUpMagic #CardTricks #Busking #Performance #OnTheStreets #TownsvilleShines #LocalLegends #TSVLocals

06.01.2022 Let's talk about self-care! What is self-care? Well, in a nutshell, it's taking care of yourself and that looks different to each individual. Self-care could be sitting down with a nice cup of tea for one person and heading out on a 10 km hike for another. One thing a lot of self-care activities have in common is mindfulness; learning how to be fully present and engaged in the moment. ... The CIC has one of your mindfulness activities for the week sorted with our free Yoga class as part of our Learning Links program. 01.01.2022 News Flash Why did the turtle cross the road? To get to the Ross River. Drivers in Kelso are being urged to drive carefully as turtles make their annual migration from the Borrow Pits across to the Ross River. ... Townsville City Council has installed corflutes near the Borrow Pits on Riverway Dr to remind motorists to keep an eye out for the slow-moving reptiles as they cross the street. The Borrow Pits are a manmade wetland which was created when soil was taken from the area to build the Ross River Dam wall. Its an oasis for local and migratory animals, however around this time of year it gets a bit dry for turtles, who choose to head back over to the Ross River. Turtles will continue their migration from the Borrow Pits to the Ross River until late October. To report an injured, sick or orphaned animal, call the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).
