25.01.2022 The health and wellness benefits of apple cider vinegar (also referred to in short as ACV) are being talked about more and more. It improves digestion, lowers blood sugar levels, helps with weight loss, improves hair growth, aids heartburn It feels like the list of benefits of apple cider vinegar will never end. And while it is true that you can achieve many amazing advantages simply by using store-bought apple cider vinegar, we have put hard work into developing Cider Tonic.... The first difference that you are likely to notice in Cider Tonic compared to other apple cider vinegar brands are the 16 natural ingredients, added to improve its effects on your health and wellness. These are honey (although we do also offer a honey-free vegan alternative with organic maple syrup or an unsweetened variation), carrot, onion, garlic, orange, ginger, apple, lemon, turmeric, oregano, chilli, parsley, thyme, salt, pepper and bay leaves. Each has many health benefits of its own and helps create a truly potent Cider Tonic. See more

25.01.2022 In a fast-paced world where we get most of our groceries from the supermarket, we all have a tendency to focus on our intake of macronutrients (the carbohydrates, proteins and fats) and ignore the power of micronutrients. That is a dangerous game to play since these vitamins and minerals are crucial to the healthy functioning of our bodies, as well as balanced mental health. Micronutrients, which include vitamins and minerals, are necessary for our bodies to function properly.... Vitamins are essential for energy production, immune function & blood clotting while minerals play an important role in growth, bone health & fluid balance. These are functions that can’t be satisfied just by the consumption of enough calories and macronutrients. The health effects and symptoms of long-term deficiencies vary depending on the particular nutrient. However, some deficiencies are more common than others. In Australia deficiencies of vitamin A, B12, D, iron and calcium are common. Our new tonic infuses raw & organic Apple Cider Vinegar with Dandelion, Red Clover, Moringa, Oatstraw, Nettle & Chickweed. These herbs are known in Western Herbal Medicine for their Nutritive & Alterative actions. Each herb has unique micro-nutritional properties which will aid in enhancing your overall health.

23.01.2022 So many happy veggie growers are reaping bumper crops of broadbeans this year. We certainly have a glut. They are one of my very favourite vegetables, so l want to be sure to enjoy them out of season & add another source of fermented food into our diet. My little broadbean lacto fermenting experiment had some interesting results. Left bottom corner: blanched, skinned & cooked.... Left hand top:blanched, skinned not cooked. Right hand top: blanched not skinned. Right hand bottom: not skinned, nor blanched, raw. The natural yeasts on the skin seems to really help the fermentation along. All of the samples taste delicious & would be enjoyable in different recipes. To lacto ferment the broadbeans l placed the jar on the scales & tared that weight. Added the broadbeans and water. Recorded that weight & multiplied that figure by 0.025. This gave me the salt weight l needed. Poured out the water into a jug added the salt then stirred until disolved. Now pour back into the jar with the broadbeans. To keep the broadbeans submerged whilst fermenting l created a small waterballoon by using glad wrap & a rubber band & popped that on top. Then placed the fowlers lid loosely on top. After a day or so, bubbles started to appear. Hot tip: place the jars on a tray, the fermentation can cause the water to overflow a little. Store them once you have reached your desired taste.

23.01.2022 Shhhhhh, I’m back. 21.01.2022 There are many herbs that are available to incorporate into your diet to aid digestion & liver function. Some of which may even be available in your backyard. My go to bitter tea consists of foraged dried Dandelion root, foraged Nettle leaves, Chamomile & Ginger which l am fortunate to grow myself. I know not everyone has the access to these as l do but pure Chamomile tea & fresh Ginger are readily available to purchase at your local supermarket. I make myself a brew & store it in the fridge for a few days & take a sip before meals. .

19.01.2022 The base of Cider Tonic can’t be just any apple cider vinegar, which is why we use organic, raw and unfiltered ACV! That’s what makes it special, even before it gets infused with more ingredients that improve your health. But what’s the difference, you may ask? The filtering of apple cider vinegar removes the sediments and the mother. This mother is, in short, a collection of cellulose and acetic acid bacteria it is what turns it from alcohol to vinegar. Filtered ACV is als...o likely to be pasteurized afterwards, killing many of the good bacteria you would find in an unpasteurised raw version. Unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar is therefore much less processed than its filtered counterpart and contains all the good gut-boosting bacteria, with all its health benefits such as improvement of indigestion, aid in weight loss, reduced bloating, and much more. . 19.01.2022 Our little town of Yarram now has a new book shop in town called @artichokebooks & l for one couldn't be happier. Matt from @heroroundtable has started this new venture & he has curated an amazing selection to suit all ages & interests. You can also pick up our small or large bottles of Cider Tonic to nurture your gut health while you are choosing your next book to nurture your soul. Fun fact: Did you know that Artichokes contain inulin, a type of fiber which acts as a prebiotic.

18.01.2022 It's is a weird time to be running a small business. For months now it has been a huge challenge for us to access our refill bulk pouches & glass bottles. I am pleased to say we now have our vessels back in stock & all sizes are now available on our website. We have had to make a compromise on our 550ml bottles & you will start to see them rolling out in the amber glass, which in fact l am not too unhappy about at all. I think they look great, l hope you will too.

17.01.2022 A good friend of mine has had a hellish week with her partner going in for a gall bladder removal which started with a simple keyhole procedure but has unfortunately turned into multiple surgeries and time spent in ICU in a Melbourne hospital. Including bitters in our diet is incredibly important for good gut health & healthy livers. Our modern diet has turned us away from eating bitter food and for many it can be difficult to enjoy but including more could in fact be lifesa...ving. When we eat bitters the receptors in our mouth recognises its presence & activates our saliva glands which stimulate our stomach to secrete gastric acid & increase enzymes which breaks down protein and help us absorb vitamin B12. Bitters are particularly favourable for the functioning of the liver and gall bladder which aids in the digestion of fats. Bile aids the liver in the elimination of waste and helps to prevent incredibly painful gall stones from forming. Taken regularly & over time, they will lessen symptoms of a sluggish digestive system, constipation, loose stools and food allergies; they will help with vitamin and mineral absorption; protect the liver and enhance bile production; help to heal a leaky gut; and reduce the incidence of allergic disorders. And yes our Cider Tonic is a great way to add bitters to your diet.

06.01.2022 Have you remembered your morning shot of Cider Tonic?

06.01.2022 Our new Cider Tonic-NOURISH with the antioxidant rich botanical Red Clover which supports detoxification, reduces inflammation and balances the stress response. Traditionally red clover has been prescribed to women as it is high in minerals necessary to balance hormones. Some of the notable nutrients of red clover are vitamin A, vitamin B’s *B1, B2, B3, vitamin C, calcium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, phosphorus, potassium, and other trace minerals. In particular red clover helps nourish our yin, blood, and fluids, which, in turn, helps the blood carry more oxygen and nutrients throughout the body .

06.01.2022 There are many benefits to sourcing ingredients locally, which is why as many ingredients used to make Cider Tonic as possible come from our permaculture food forest or within our local area in Gippsland. Let us summarise some important and surprising effects that buying and sourcing local can have. You may have already heard of the first one it helps reduce your carbon footprint and fight climate change, as much less transport is needed during the production process. But did you know that a Cambridge University study found that buying and sourcing ingredients locally can improve the health of the local community and reduce the rate of mortality, obesity and diabetes? Or that less plastic is used when sourcing locally, since much less packaging is needed during transport?

05.01.2022 Incredibly nutritive, Moringa is one of the chosen plant allies for our new NOURISH Cider Tonic & heres why... Moringa is often referred to as the miracle tree, when diving into the powerful constituent profile of this plant I can see why it has been dubbed the miracle tree. Moringa offers a powerful profile of vitamins, minerals, bioflavonoids and antioxidants which support the body against free radicals, whilst its high micronutrient profile nourishes the body from the inside out. Moringa contains a plethora of micronutrients our cells need to thrive, including vitamin A, vitamin B complex (B1, B2, B3 and B6), vitamin C, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc, this is what makes Moringa a perfect addition to the Cider Tonic NOURISH apple cider vinegar infusion.
