10.01.2022 Please note - I’m not asking people to diagnose on this post. That’s what our experienced equine vet is for. Our beautiful Stella has arrived. She is the sweetest most gorgeous girl but I’m very worried about her and a little overwhelmed with sadness right now. We knew she had ERU (equine recurrent uveitis) which is essentially inflammation of the middle of the eye.... But I had no idea just how bad. Her bad eye is a disaster, she has no sight at all and is quite painful and would have been for a long time. I have no doubt at all that the eye needs removal ASAP. Her other eye is a little inflamed and sensitive but she at least has sight. Sadly we discovered she also has nasty masses all over her vulva. I have spent the last hour spongeing her weeping eyes and her vulva and applied soothing creams. She was immediately started on pain relief. She has a full belly and is happily grazing with mav and Trum (who are acting as if she doesn’t exist ). Our vet will be out to examine her ASAP and we will decide what is the best plan for her. I have not given up on her but I also will not allow her to suffer and will be guided by our very experienced equine vet. I wish I had a better update for everyone but at the moment I’m very concerned. We will update as soon as we know more but pls send love See more

10.01.2022 Oh the oldies crack me up. Little Stella thinks mav and Trum are great. Follows them around insisting that they have no choice but to stand with her, scares them off their feeds and has Trum running scared. The boys are far from impressed about some girl moving in. They do their granny single file walk with Trum in front then mav and then Stella tagging along.... She couldn’t care less that Trum runs away or that mav puts his ears back. Just follows them everywhere. It’s actually quite hilarious. I have had a good chat with our equine vet this morning and sent lots of photos and videos. He agrees with all my initial thoughts. The eye will need to come out, the other one needs assessment and treatment and the masses on her vulva will likely need biopsying to know for sure what we are dealing with. She has some melanoma looking lumps but also some more nasty looking ones in several spots so it’s possible (and very unlucky) that she has a number of things going on. She has been started on pain relief, anti inflammatories, eye medications and creams for vulva. Our vet will be out to do further testing in a couple days. Stella is much happier today with medications on board and enjoying bossing the boys around
