22.01.2022 This years Indigifestoz was very different for us all, this is from this years Cinefestoz crew, Because we are unable to come together at a physical IndigifestO...Z Day event this year, we curated the IndigifestOZ Experience to connect us online so we can still celebrate Indigenous filmmakers and share Indigenous films. The Experience is presented by acclaimed Australian actor and CinefestOZ koorda, Kelton Pell who is a proud Wadandi man of the South West. We hope you enjoy the selection of short claymation films, an instruction guide on how to produce your own animations using clay and an insight into the important work being done by Waalitj Kaaditjin at Busselton Senior High School. We hope our community and school groups enjoy this experience for free! https://cinefestoz.com/featured_i/indigifestoz-experience/

16.01.2022 Congratulations to CinefestOZ Board member Jub Clerc, one of eight female indigenous writer/directors to have been selected to take part in Screenwest RED initiative. Jub, along with Kodie Bedford, Debbie Carmody, Kelli Cross, Karla Hart, Chantelle Murray, Ngaire Pigram and Mitch Torres, has been selected to take part in the new writing and directing initiative drive to create one scripted 80-minute indigenous feature film exploring the theme of ‘missing Indigenous women’. ...Each practitioner will write and direct a 10-minute short film, ultimately creating an anthology of stories from a female Aboriginal perspective combined into one feature film. The RED project is driven by WA indigenous production companies PiNK PEPPER and Ramu Productions and Aeoteroa (New Zealand) company Brown Sugar Apple Grunt. Many of these filmmakers have attended and participated in CinefestOZ over the years, including Brown Sugar Grunt Apple Grunt filmmakers Kerry Warkia and Kiel McNaughton, whose film Vai screened at last year’s festival. We are super excited to see this project come to fruition and congratulate Screenwest in leading this initiative.
