06.01.2022 So, our beloved council has done it again received attached yesterday for a parking fine for John Wren parking in front of the cinema. No stopping sign out the front of cinema, a letter was sent to have this change last year but council wrote back we will look into this march 2021 But this just not affects John Wren it affects every disable person, every elderly person, every frail person in broken hill who wants to come and watch a movie We have at times busses from nursin...g homes, the live better bus, disable taxis dropping patrons off to the cinema BUT no you can be fined. Even having red traffic cones will still get you fined. The nearest disable parking spot is across the road from the cinema (no good for cinema going people). Mums and dads drop off their children in front the cinema for safety reasons. John can’t walk very far as he gets tired quick and short of breath and needs assistance from a walker and carer. I have seen many patrons who need assistance for the same reason too. Disable taxis pull up the front they help their clients in and out of there taxis. John loves his cinema; he loves meeting people new and old. John has a blue disable tag but can’t be used because NO disable parking at the front of the cinema. Even the elderly and frail patrons pull up the front of cinema to get in and out because there is no where safe for them either. Did the ranger actually get out of the car and have the decency to check why the car was there NO. So, our beloved council I’m ringing every disable advocate I can get my hands on, and any of our Facebook followers have numbers too please inbox me. And why the offence date 30th August 2020 and yesterday received the letter. And by the way thanks to the Mayor responding to my letter about rates relief haven’t heard a thing. Speaking to other cinema owners in country towns they have had some sort of help from their local council, we have never asked for help but now we are. Sent a letter to our Federal Member Mr Mark Coulton about all independent cinemas struggling he respond within 3 days. Seriously where has common-sense gone too.
