25.01.2022 I'm sure most of my clients know the passion I have for my car. Today I had a pretty serious accident and it looks like a write off. Thankfully I am getting a loan car tomorrow so it's business as usual! Just won't be arriving in such style

25.01.2022 Love a good forced restart

25.01.2022 All hail our Portable Document Format overlords :)

25.01.2022 Just in case anyone is interested (it's not very interesting!) I've completed the COVID-19 online training, and will be implementing best practices to stop the spread. With the introduction of quarantining and self-isolation, a large number of workplace employees are finding themselves working from home for the forseeable future. If you or anyone you know requires help with either setting up their current computer or purchasing a new one, I'm here to help. You all know I don'...t charge high fees like some in this industry, and definitely will NOT be increasing prices to take advantage of this situation. I think we will be seeing a major shift in business models and employment designations, so staying connected from home is more important than ever. Stay safe and let's get through this together :)

24.01.2022 Did you watch the space launch over the weekend? 3 big touchscreen computers inside the capsule - what could go wrong

24.01.2022 Tackled a tricky job today and I'm pleased to say it's fixed! This Toshiba laptop presented with charging issues, the cord would plug in but not always supply charge to the battery. Opened up to find green tape and crushed wires! Uh oh ... there's the problem! New wiring soldered in, heatshrink wrapped to protect the joints and routed properly inside the housings, reassembled and charging perfectly now!

23.01.2022 If you are in the market for a gaming laptop, check this out!

23.01.2022 Here's a nice upgrade I did recently for my brother-in-law. His business laptop was horribly slow and only a few years old - but a simple Solid State Drive upgrade made a huge difference to the performance and it now runs way better than new! Pricing for the SSD's has been a bit volatile lately, but starting to calm down. If you want a speed boost for your laptop or PC send me a message :)

22.01.2022 Haha "boot sector" I do enjoy remote access though

22.01.2022 Here's a beast of a PC built for a long time friend who has just moved his business into a new location on South St. Jamie never does anything by halves, so when he asked for a reception computer for the business, I knew a basic PC was not going to cut it! We have an Intel Core i7 9700F processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB M.2 SSD storage, and 2 x 24" 144hz 1ms gaming monitors! Perhaps this will be used for more than Word and Excel? ... I'm sure they would appreciate a like on their Facebook page too! Thanks for reading

22.01.2022 Here's a nice little upgrade done this week for my son's school teacher! A fairly old and slow gaming system that needed some improvement Removed all components including the CPU heatsink, cleaned off the old thermal paste and reapplied to keep things nice and cool, then an SSD addition which required modification to the drive bay to screw it in.... Fresh installation of Windows 7 64 bit to recognise the 16GB of RAM already installed, and this baby runs like a dream! Boots up in seconds instead of minutes! Also ... I just love taking close up photos of motherboards

21.01.2022 My favourite reader. Or is it my favourite acrobat ...

20.01.2022 Here's an interesting job completed today for a local family. This HP gaming laptop presented a few weeks ago with a grinding noise from the fan. Opened up to find two fans, one of them felt a bit growly. Discovered a loose screw rolling around from the battery, which had puffed up and popped the screw out! This caused the mousepad to also experience issues. I removed the battery as it was only used when plugged in to mains, cleaned the fans but couldn't get the grinding resolved. I swapped the fans over temporarily so it could still be used, ordered a replacement which took a few weeks to arrive, then installed that today.

20.01.2022 Its not very often that I get the chance to go "All Out" on a computer build. But today is one of those days. What you see here is around $3500 of gaming awesomeness - thats just for the box. Triple monitors and accessories are already in place! We went with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 8 core 16 thread (!!!) 32GB of RAM, a 2TB M.2 Samsung Solid State chip and a ROG STRIX RX 5700XT 8GB graphics card. What a mouthful!... All assembled inside an ASUS TUF case with a 750W power supply, it looks AMAZING and performs brilliantly. JUST LOOK AT IT! One day Ill build something like this for myself. One day What an honour to be given the task of assembling this beauty.

19.01.2022 Am I the only one laughing at these jokes?

19.01.2022 Well the past few weeks have been really busy! Here's a new build I finished today, ready for delivery tomorrow. It's for a home office and it's "INSANELY" fast! Featuring an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 500GB M.2 SSD chip on the board, loading times are a thing if the past. This whole box with Windows 10 Pro comes to under $1000! Ok ... you got me. It's $990, but STILL! ... Cable management is also a lot easier thanks to new case designs, just LOOK AT IT See more

18.01.2022 Another week, another few SSD upgrades for laptops! This Lenovo ideapad is about 5 years old and was struggling to turn on, let alone work. Migrated the old mechanical drive to a new WD Green 480GB solid state drive, and it runs like new! It's so impressive seeing the difference with just a single component upgraded. Lots more projects on the go, and my regular on-site IT assistance for all my lovely clients, thank you for the ongoing support

17.01.2022 Finding electronic equipment is getting easier but stocks are still low in so many stores. I was asked to source a new laptop, display and keyboard/mouse for the meeting room of Future Steps Financial Planning and this is the result! Even created a nice desktop background with the company logo - swish!

17.01.2022 So sometimes in my line of work, you have to be a bit dodgy This clients tablet was recently reset but the original account and password was forgotten. Uh oh! Now its a paper weight. Not anymore! I was able to use some industry tricks to get the account removed and the device is usable again!... The security is designed to block people who steal these types of devices, but legitimate cases get caught out too. Thankfully there are ways around it, but I would never knowingly help someone with stolen goods!

16.01.2022 Selling a mildly used Surface Pro 4 256GB model 1724. This unit has been factory reset, updated to the latest Windows 10 1903 and is ready for a new home. Prese...nts like new. It comes with the original charger and cover with keyboard, however the keyboard no longer works on the cover,, so a separate bluetooth keyboard is included in the sale, and the cover can still stay attached to protect the screen. See photos. Pickup from Byford 6122 or can deliver in southern suburbs for a small fee.

16.01.2022 Another beast of a PC built by Circular Computing! Long time friend and previous workmate Justin wanted a massive upgrade to prepare for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator released next month. You ask - I deliver! His previous system was decent, but some components were nearing 10 years old, and it was having occasional crashes - not fun for gaming. We kept the case and internal drives, but replaced all other components. Check this out!... AMD Ryzen 7 3800X CPU Gigabye AORUS Elite B450 Motherboard Corsair Dominator 32GB DDR4 RAM Samsung EVO M.2 500GB SSD Radeon 5700XT 8GB Graphics Card eVGA 700W Gold Power Supply Windows 10 Home Rainbow Colours - free! This set of components cost just under $3,000, and performs just as well (if not better) than a shop built machine worth over $4,000! Bargain! The final photo is his current setup with triple monitors, G920 racing wheel, Saitek HOTAS flight controller and some extra simulator goodies. I'll definitely be asking for a go when the game is released!

16.01.2022 These laptop repairs have been a bit tricky lately! The first 3 photos are of a Lenovo laptop with a loose charging port - managed to repair the port base, secure it tightly and reassemble, giving a nice tight connectin again. The next 3 photos are of a laptop with a blown speaker! Managed to source a replacement from overseas, reinstalled and working perfectly :)

15.01.2022 Here's another PC build complete and ready to deliver tomorrow. This is a great entry level system for home use and light gaming. It features an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 2GB video card, Windows 10 Home, along with speakers, webcam, WiFi and an external backup drive. It has a 24.5" BenQ LCD monitor and a DeepCool case, assembled and delivered for $1395. It's a pretty neat package - and check out the clean cable wiring! *customer already has a keyboard and mouse, so that's not included in this setup.

15.01.2022 Couple of laptop jobs this week. Thank you to all my clients for continuing to request my services in these uncertain times. First was a 2011 Macbook Pro running slower than a fortnight in quarantine given a new life with a 1TB SSD and a clean install of El Capitan. At one stage the installation was going to take 1.4 billion hours Second was an Asus netbook on Windows 8 and refusing to complete updates, and has also been running without a proper restart for 757 days! I f...irmly told it who was boss and it complied now running Windows 10 and an SSD upgrade for a performance boost. Both cleaned internally with air and externally with alcohol wipes for COVID-FREE computing Video in the comments to demonstrate the speedy load of the Macbook.

14.01.2022 I've been a bit quiet on here lately, sorting out all my car new car stuff, but still busy with computer jobs thankfully! I can now present to you all my new ride :) It's a 2018 Toyota C-HR Koba in Crystal Pearl white, with about 48,000km travelled. Back seats look new so not much use at all really. 1.2L turbo engine so it's no rocket but still very enjoyable to drive. Getting this is easing the pain of losing my last car. As it's now my business car, it will be getting some ...graphic treatment with my logo etc, so you'll definitely be able to spot me on the road! Enough car stuff for now - I'll get back to posting computer related items!

14.01.2022 Ahhh Google Chrome - its a love hate relationship :) It works so well, but that RAM usage can be brutal!

11.01.2022 So it's Halloween, and I know most Aussies don't celebrate it, but do you know what's spooky in the Microsoft world? Windows END OF LIFE! (dum dum DUUUMMM!) Yes, Windows 7 reaches end of life in January 2020, and while you technically can still use it, I wouldn't recommend it, especially in a business situation. ... This Toshiba laptop has been given a new life with a fresh installation of Windows 10 just in time, saving a local business the added cost of a whole new computer purchase! I'm currently able to source genuine Windows 10 Home licenses for $129, and charge $100 for backup and restoration of your files, so at $229 it's an affordable upgrade to keep you secure and up to date. If your computer is in need of an upgrade, give me a call or message here, I'll be happy to assist

11.01.2022 Wow what a busy couple of weeks for Circular Computing! All these machines in the photos do not belong to me! I just had to get a class photo for November jobs, don't they look pretty? First we have a Dell All In One PC needing a speed boost - that received an SSD upgrade.... Next is a Dell Vostro that had not been used in years, and after a strip and clean, plus an SSD upgrade it runs like a dream! Third is a HP laptop with a damaged power socket. I ordered the part, stripped the machine and replaced it, tested and updated all working again - a simple $20 part was the only piece required. Fourth is a BEAST of a machine - a new MSI Gaming laptop for a client that wanted gaming on the go - an amazing piece of kit for only $1279! Fifth is a pair of Acer laptops purchased as an upgrade for 2 older machines, I cleaned off all the factory installed junk, transferred all the personal files and they are back up and running again. Plenty more jobs on the go so December is looking to be just as busy!

11.01.2022 So MYOB and Microsoft are having a little fit, and blocking all older versions of MYOB from opening up! After a few calls from my clients I investigated the problem and found a solution. If you know anyone using legacy versions of MYOB and having trouble, feel free to share this link :)

10.01.2022 Yet another worrying story about scammers accessing your computer and taking your money. Stay vigilant, and don't allow strangers access to your PC.

10.01.2022 So sometimes in my line of work, you have to be a bit dodgy This client's tablet was recently reset but the original account and password was forgotten. Uh oh! Now it's a paper weight. 09.01.2022 Nice to see lucky ol' Perth getting a feature as the Microsoft lock screen background! Elizabeth Quay sure does look pretty all lit up

09.01.2022 RGB THE WORLD!!! Almost everything in computing can now include bright colourful lighting. It sure does look pretty I helped wire up all of this and get all the components working ready to become an absolute gaming monster. It sure is a privilege to work with such amazing technology.

08.01.2022 Picked up this laptop on Thursday for a check up and speed boost, it has great specifications but still runs a bit slow. Mirrored the old drive to a new SSD and it's running like a dream, but also found the screen's left hinge broken internally! This monster 17" screen means a lot of weight when opening and closing, and it has snapped all the screw mounts. Fixed as best as I could without replacing the whole laptop chassis, at least it opens and closes smoothly again

08.01.2022 These past few weeks have been super busy! Friday saw me on the road for 10 hours visiting 4 clients, 2 of them brand new! Thank you to everyone for your support and referrals Here's another new build with top quality parts and great pricing - this setup came in at under $900 including assembly and file transfers!

07.01.2022 I often get asked what to do with old technology, cables, batteries etc - well this just popped up in my facebook feed. Looks like Officworks have been doing some recycling for a while, but now they offer full e-waste facilities, covering laptops, computers, screens, keyboards & mice, cables, power supplies, as well as more difficult items like batteries and ink cartridges. This is a much better solution than just throwing the items in the bin - so much can be recycled.... For my south of the river clients, Cockburn and Cannington both offer this service. Check out an Officeworks near you to find out if they support e-waste recycling.

07.01.2022 Ahhh Google Chrome - it's a love hate relationship :) It works so well, but that RAM usage can be brutal!

03.01.2022 Here she is! All finished and ready to take me all over Perth :) It's been a bit of an adjustment from my last car, but this is the next step in my business and a great asset. You won't hear me coming, but you will see me coming now!... Big thank you to Michael at CharBay Designs for the graphic work!

03.01.2022 Well this was a tricky job! Gaming PC bought by a client on facebook marketplace for a Christmas present - stopped working after only a few days! They gave it to a young friend to fix, but unfortunately that made things a bit worse ..... I picked up the computer with parts missing and disconnected, and after a lot of diagnosing and cleaning, finally got it to boot up. Then I reassembled all the parts, completely rewired inside to be a lot neater, and it runs like new again! This added up to about 5 hours work - lucky I enjoy what I do!

02.01.2022 Look out for this sneaky little update. KB4535996 is a Windows 10 Cumulative Update that is causing freezing on a lot of machines. If you are experiencing freezing recently, this update may be the culprit, and thankfully you can uninstall it like a dodgy program! Contact me if you need help with this :) https://www.windowslatest.com//windows-10-kb4535996-issues/

01.01.2022 Are you looking at upgrading your computer or laptop? Confused with all the options and models available? I can help! This Dell Inspiron 15 3000 is set up and ready to go to it's owner tomorrow. They gave me a budget and work load required, and after narrowing down the options, I purchased this machine on their behalf - and on sale too! Paired nicely with a Targus carry bag, this laptop will suit their needs for many years to come. Avoid the pushy sales people and let Circular Computing get the best deal for you!
