15.01.2022 (Warning. Circus rant... it's time. ) I haven't been on facebook for long... nearly a year and have found many artists, musicians, educators and circus friends who I had lost along the way through travels and adventures. All of which know my passion for circus in all its forms and its potential for making an authentic and lasting difference to the lives of young people and their communities. I was mentored by the "father" of community circus in this country - the wonderful ...Reg Bolton, one of the most big hearted, gifted men I have ever met. He taught me about the nature of community youth circus and its potential to reconnect young people to their own bodies, environments, communities and each other. Its ability to foster trust, understanding, celebration, expression, wonder, joy and acceptance in schools, communities and families. He taught me how to teach this respect and understanding in others and to ALWAYS look for the potential in everyone around me. 2 days after Reg passed away I received "Indian Circus" by American photographer Mary Ellen Marks in the post. I had been begging Reg for the book for years... he used to tease me that he would never 'weaken' and give it to me... I look at it often and marvel at what we are all capable of if we respect each other and value creation, trust and joy. The photos here are of Reg from early 2000 - the first time I saw his "instant circus" in WA and him having a rational coversation with a panto horse... the book- his last gift to me and my own circus family. Why would this subject be viewed as 'non- essential??' Circus has the potential to change lives... and keep kids at school and happy to be there. Ask the people who have studied the art form and then listen to their answers. PLEASE Rant over.

06.01.2022 "Hey everyone! Unfortunately we have been advised to shut down after school circus classes for the remainder of this term... If you have paid fees for the whole term your fees will carry over into term 2. Our Blessing of the Fleet show has been cancelled and Sth Stars has been postponed to later in the year. Keep training at home! Sit ups and push ups and smiles We'll see you all again soon. X" Sharon

06.01.2022 Public Statement Southern Stars 2020: The Management team at Southern Stars has been in discussions over the last couple of days to consider the future of our 2020 show. After carefully contemplating all of our options, a decision was made that we will not be able to proceed with Southern Stars this year. The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff during many months of rehearsals and performances, is of utmost importance to us and figured prominently in ma...king this decision. We know that this will be a big disappointment to our many thousands of public school students and teachers, with a passion for performance and a love of the arts, who have been looking forward to celebrating 20 years of Southern Stars as much as we have. All of the planning for the 2020 show will not be in vain. We will be working even harder behind the scenes to come back again in 2021 with the greatest show yet in our 20 year history! We will be in contact with all our sponsors, media partners, schools, students and external suppliers over the next week to discuss our plans for 2021. The new show dates for 2021 are Friday 20 August and Saturday 21 August. Please put these in your calendar. We thank you for your continued support of Southern Stars.
