25.01.2022 A big shout out to Jenny, Tracie and the team at Bendigo Family and Financial Services who are doing a great job in supporting their local community. https://www.foodbank.org.au/bendigo-family-financial-servi/

25.01.2022 This #GivingTuesday we're asking for donations to our #SchoolCosts campaign. From our research earlier in the year we know that over half the parents accessing agency services said their child had been negatively impacted by unaffordable school costs. Kids didn't have the right uniforms, books, or devices and were missing out because of it. November-February is the peak time for families to suffer from unaffordable school costs. This is especially hard with the holidays coming up. If you can, please donate to help us cover these costs for families in need: https://www.givenow.com.au/schoolcosts We know times are tough - if you're unable to donate, please share this post and spread the word.

22.01.2022 Dear survivors of violence who are bravely speaking out: We hear you. We see you. We believe you. You’re not alone. #orangetheworld #16Days #GenerationEquality

21.01.2022 International students have been on the frontline of this pandemic and have suffered greatly during this time. Listen to Claire Kartsidimas from Community Information & Support Moreland and Michael Pernar from Laverton Community Integrated Services Inc. TOID: 6408 speaking on the plight facing international students and the ways in which these agencies have been supporting them through the pandemic. International students are part of our community - they're helping with our p...arents in aged care, they are washing dishes in our favourite restaurants, keeping us safe as security guards and so much more. Yet they have been left out of our social safety nets like JobSeeker. You can help us continue to support international students by donating here: https://www.givenow.com.au/support4internationalstudents

19.01.2022 If paying rent is harder due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, you may qualify for a $3000 grant.

18.01.2022 Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the launch of the United Nations 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Over the next 16 days, we encourage you to get involved and #CallItOut! Information from the UN: https://www.un.org//obse/ending-violence-against-women-day "Since the outbreak of COVID-19, emerging data and reports from those on the front lines, have shown that all types of violence against women and girls, partic...ularly domestic violence, has intensified. This is the Shadow Pandemic growing amidst the COVID-19 crisis and we need a global collective effort to stop it. As COVID-19 cases continue to strain health services, essential services, such as domestic violence shelters and helplines, have reached capacity. More needs to be done to prioritize addressing violence against women in COVID-19 response and recovery efforts." In Victoria, Respect Victoria has created a campaign to coincide with the UN's #16Days. Information on Respect Victoria's campaign and how you can get involved: https://www.respectvictoria.vic.gov.au/16-days-activism-2020 Today you can participate in the Walk Against Family Violence - which is a bit different this year. It's a "walk from home" event - wear something orange and use the hashtag #WAFV2020

18.01.2022 Are you in a private rental and have been affected by Covid-19? Dear Landlord can help you to negotiate a rent reduction agreement with your landlord, as well as provide other important tips to avoid eviction. 12.01.2022 It's November and do you know what that means? It's the start of #SchoolCosts season From our research last year, we know that November-February is the season where school costs are in demand and families struggle to cover them all. Every child deserves a quality education but unaffordable school costs are getting in the way - kids are missing out because they don't have the right books, uniforms, stationery or devices.... If you're struggling with school costs, you are not alone and your local Community, Information & Support agency can help. Find your local agency: www.cisvic.org.au/home/find-your-local-agency

07.01.2022 Too many international students and people on short-term visas have been suffering during the pandemic. Our member agencies are here to help, no one has to suffer alone. Lost your job? Finding that navigating eligibility criteria is a nightmare? Can't afford food or to pay your bills? If you're struggling, please find your local agency: http://www.cisvic.org.au/home/find-your-local-agency or use the AskIzzy website: https://askizzy.org.au/

07.01.2022 The PM has announced a shameful plan to slash our poverty payments by a further $50 a week. Despite the government's claims, this is #NotALifeline Previous cut...s already devastated millions of people and their kids. Now we're faced with even tighter budgets and little prospect of finding a job because there are no jobs to be had. Use this document to tell us what changes you'll need to make + we'll make a graphic just for you: https://docs.google.com//1hC1bybPhfqP6hjihuBPvL1Ovo0/edit

06.01.2022 New data reveals household spending was actually higher in some poorer Melbourne suburbs during lockdown, helping keep the economy afloat. How could this be? ...Turns out boosting JobSeeker to a sensible rate actually allowed people on low-incomes to spend money on essentials, make purchases in local shops and buy household items they couldn’t previously afford. Helping them, and helping the nation. Just another reason to rate of JobSeeker permanently... #RaiseTheRateForGood!

06.01.2022 "Victorian casual workers in industries like cleaning, hospitality and aged care could get up to five days of sick and carers leave under a "secure work pilot scheme" announced by the State Government" We welcome this pilot - with an increasingly casualised workforce this is much needed.

05.01.2022 To kick off #GivingTuesday, we just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers working across the Emergency Relief sector and in our member agencies. Volunteers are a huge part of delivering #EmergencyRelief - in some cases, agencies are entirely volunteer-run! Volunteers are the life-blood of many organisations, working tirelessly to help people in need - and we are so in awe of that. To all past, present, and returning volunteers - thank you! You're all superstars

04.01.2022 Do you live in the inner north and have a few spare hours each week? If so, check out this call out for volunteer drivers!
