Free, independent and confidential support is here for people with disability Hello, I am writing to you on behalf of the Australian Government’s Department of Social Services about support services for people with disability who have experienced violence, abuse, neglect or exploitation. The Disability Royal Commission is happening right now, and they have just released their interim report. Minister for Families and Social Services Anne Ruston and Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme Stuart Robert welcomed the release of the report in a statement issued on the same day. The release of the interim report may create difficult feelings for some people. Free, independent and confidential emotional and advocacy support is available for people with disability, as well as families and carers. Support is available through 68 counselling and advocacy providers across Australia. As a key stakeholder and touchpoint for people with disability, we thought it was important for you to know about the release of the Disability Royal Commission’s interim report, and the support services available for people.
