23.01.2022 During this time of mask-wearing, we recognise extra difficulty for people who are deaf / hard-of-hearing, who rely on lip-reading to communicate. The Salvation... Army Sunbury has an AUSLAN interpreter available on request during our Community Support Service operating hours. Please pass this information to people who may need it. See more

19.01.2022 We are often confronted by heartbreaking incidents of bullying in schools, online and the workplace and the video of 9 year old Quaden is beyond confronting, he...artbreaking and a tragic reminder of the challenges so many young people experience as a result of bullying. We all have a right to feel safe, valued and respected. We will continue to work around the clock to raise the levels of awareness and education across our schools, communities and workplaces. Bullying is a learned behaviour; so if it can be learned, it can be unlearned. If you or anyone you know has been impacted and needs support, please contact Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800.

19.01.2022 If you are required to isolate at home, and cannot get groceries delivered, or cannot afford them, then please call the Sunbury Salvos on Wed & Fri from 9.30-2pm on 97442095. If it's Tues or Thurs, call Careworks on 97405061. No-one in Sunbury should be without food.

19.01.2022 Makes a lot of sense

18.01.2022 Hoping you are all well and safe. Please find our October newsletter below.

14.01.2022 CITIZEN ADVOCACY SUNBURY Citizen Advocacy Sunbury is currently looking for a male Citizen Advocate, for a 62-year-old man living at the Corpus Christi Community, Greenvale a Catholic residential care facility that provides accommodation and support for marginalized older men with a history of homelessness, addiction or complex health needs. This man has no family contact and has been institutionalized from a young age. His life totally revolves around the ‘service system’ ...and he is chronically socially isolated, apart from the Corpus Christi Community and his service providers. The Advocate will need to befriend and understand this man, ensuring his needs are met and human rights upheld. In time he hopefully will have greater opportunity to access the community. The Advocate will also need to be build trust, be patient, and have good communication skills with the individual and various service workers. If you think you are the right person call David Abela on 0408178614.

10.01.2022 Amen, Dylan! Aussie Paralympian Dylan Alcott reacts strongly after seeing this powerful image in a US Target ad. Clearly, at least one little boy felt exactly t...he same way. LOVE THIS! 'You cannot be what you cannot see’, society is definitely moving in the right direction - representation matters! he wrote on Twitter.

09.01.2022 Citizen Advocacy Sunbury staying connected during these difficult times with a yummy chocolate cake ! Thanks to Deb (Advocate & cakemaker !) & Michelle (Protege) for dropping this in to the office whilst practicing "physical distancing".... I'm glad to say that Citizen Advocates continue to look out for their proteges even within limitations ie: phone, emails & social media, directly or through carers. Making sure that essentials are available and complete isolation does not set in. I will continue to be available to Advocates & Proteges on the phone anytime if you need information or just need to talk. Have had to postpone pysically meeting new people and community engagements for the time being but will get back to everyone ASAP. 08.01.2022 Archaeologists just found accessibility ramps for people with disabilities at ancient Greek temples and healing sanctuaries. The discovery of these ramps built ...in the 4th century B.C. marks the earliest evidence of ancient cultures making public spaces more welcoming to people with disabilities.
