02.01.2022 "I Can End The Deficit In 5 Minutes" - Warren Buffet May 5, 2016 I suspect I know the outcome if we were to adapt Warren Buffett's message to fit Australia and then put it to a Citizen's Jury: Warren Buffett, "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.."... Citizen's Jury is asking everybody to share this idea and to ask their friends to do likewise. A Jury could vote on - 1. No Tenure / No Pension. Members of Parliament (Federal & State) collect a salary while in office and so should receive no pay when they are out of office. 2. Parliamentarians have the same rights and benefits to superannuation as other Australians. 3. Parliamentarians can top-up their superannuation to the same amount as all other Australians. 4. Parliamentarians pay to rise annually by the lower of CPI or 3%. 5. Parliamentarians forfeit all additional benefits of office when they leave office. 6. All contracts with past and present Parliamentarians are void effective 1/1/2017. The Australian people did not make or vote on these contracts. Parliamentarians made these contracts for themselves. 7. Citizen's lobby to pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP (Federal and State), all sitting members of Parliament become ineligible for re-election.." Serving in Government is an honour and should be by and for the people not just for career politicians. Warren Buffet said that if each person in the US contacted a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the US) to receive the message. Can we do it faster?
