22.01.2022 With the stress COVID-19 has placed on everyone's lives, it’s now more important than ever to look after your overall health and wellbeing. This September, Women’s Health Week will be a great reminder to take time out to check in on your health and to keep making positive changes that can last a lifetime.

20.01.2022 Its National Diabetes Week. Many Australians will live with type 2 diabetes for up to seven years before being diagnosed. More than 500,000 Australians are living with silent, undiagnosed type 2 diabetes.

17.01.2022 We can all be F.A.S.T. Heroes! This National Stroke Week (Aug 31-Sept 6) Stroke Foundation is urging Australians from all walks of life to become the next gener...ation of F.A.S.T. Heroes. A F.A.S.T. hero is anyone who can help save a life simply by knowing how to recognise the F.A.S.T. (Face. Arms. Speech and Time) signs of stroke. When a stroke happens, brain cells start dying at a frightening rate of up to 1.9 million per minute, but medical treatments can stop this damage. The message is simple Time is brain. The faster you can be treated after stroke, the more chance you have of making a full recovery. https://bit.ly/3fc8dMb #strokeweek2020

08.01.2022 In Australia, the people most at risk of getting the virus are those who have: recently been in mainland China and Iran travelled to (including transit through) Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea or Thailand been in close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of coronavirus.... People with coronavirus may experience: fever flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue shortness of breath. There is evidence that the virus spreads from person-to-person. The virus is most likely spread through: close contact with an infectious person contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face. Surgical masks in the community are only helpful in preventing people who have coronavirus disease from spreading it to others. If you are well, you do not need to wear a surgical mask as there is little evidence supporting the widespread use of surgical masks in healthy people to prevent transmission in public. Everyone should practise good hygiene to protect against infections. Good hygiene includes: washing your hands often with soap and water using a tissue and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze avoiding close contact with others, such as touching. It is important to minimise any risk of spreading the infection any further, isolate yourself at home and minimise your contact with others. You MUST AVOID physically coming to any medical facility unannounced including your local ED. If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing call 000 and notify the officers of your travel or close contact history.
