12.01.2022 , Our coastal parks, reserves and foreshores through which we get to the coast and the ocean, and which in their own right are also central to our lifestyle, identity and economy. Coastal parks, reserves and foreshores also play a valuable role in protecting our homes and infrastructure from coastal erosion and flooding, as well as being a home for native plants and animals. Share your thoughts... In this survey, the coast has been split into a number of sections, and you can choose which sections of the coast you comment on. We look forward to your feedback, which we are sure will be of great assistance to the City in guiding future management of our coast. The Busselton Dieback Working Group has a trailer-mounted spray unit available for hire. Its only used for phosphite so it is free of pesticides and other unwanted chemicals. The spray unit has a 30 metre hose with a 20 m spray distance, allowing you to cov...er areas up to 50 m from the roadway or track used to gain access to your vegetation. One tankful will cover an area 100-200 m long by 30 m wide in forested bushland, more in low scrub, less in dense bushland. Its best to have two people using this spray unit: one to drive the vehicle; the second to operate the spray. It shouldnt be used on a hot day or when rain is forecast within 24 hours. 11.01.2022 The sun was shining yesterday at the unveiling of the newly redeveloped netball sporting precinct. The Lois Hannay Netball Pavillion was officially opened during a regional championship hosted at Lou Weston Courts. In March last year the City was awarded $400,000 through the State Governments Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund. This certainly got the ball rolling and for that we are very grateful. The delivery of this $1.7 million project has been jointly fund...ed by the City of Busselton, the Busselton Netball Association, who contributed $120,000 toward the new pavilion and the State Government. It enabled: Construction of the new Lois Hannay Netball Pavilion. The upgrade of 9 netball courts to 12 courts 6 of which are multi-use. The upgrade of existing lights to LED and the installation of infrastructure for future lighting upgrades. The multi-use courts will benefit amateur basketballers providing additional training and game courts, as well as courts for social use they are already proving to be very popular. These new facilities will future-proof the growth of netball and basketball in the region, both for our juniors and senior players Well done to all those involved in the design, construction and delivery of this wonderful new community asset. The City would also like to acknowledge the presence of The Hon. Mick Murray MLA, Minister for Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering; Sport and Recreation and Libby Mettam MLA, Member for Vasse.
