07.01.2022 NEW SERMON SERIES The book of Nehemiah is the last historical book in the Old Testament, set approx. 440 years BC. After being exiled in Babylon for 70 years, God had made it possible for thousands of Jews to return to their homeland. But life was difficult, Jerusalem was in ruins, enemies were oppressing them, there was great discouragement, and spiritually they were at a low ebb. Had God abandoned them? Had He forgotten His promises to them? After 80 years God sent tw...o godly men to help revive the nation - the priest Ezra and the governor Nehemiah. Through their efforts God restored the hopes of the nation and renewed His special covenant relationship with them, reforms that would in some way shape Judaism and prepare the way for the coming of Jesus. Opposition, hardship and spiritual discouragement are a real part of life for many of us today. But the book of Nehemiah reminds us that God has not abandoned us either. And ultimately He revives us through the new covenant relationship, which we can have with Him in the Lord Jesus Christ. Hope you can join us on Sunday!
