25.01.2022 You can learn more about the delivery of sport and recreational facilities in the City of Gosnells following the development of the City's Sports Plan 2020-2029. The Sports Plan, unanimously adopted by the Council, will ensure the City continues to develop sport and recreational facilities to meet the needs of the community and allow more people to be more active more often. 24.01.2022 We will remember them. As part of the City's recognition of Remembrance Day, displays have been installed at Thornlie Library and the Knowledge Centre in Gosnells, to pay respect to Australians who served during armed conflicts, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Community members can view the displays during library opening hours until early 2021, including items from the City's Heritage collection as well as an original slouch hat, on loan from the Gosnells RSL Sub-Branch. 24.01.2022 Can you believe these native Zamia palms are between 200 to 250 years old? Five of these plants were carefully removed from Robinson Park in Gosnells before work on the community park and residential subdivision began, and were cared for at a specialist nursery before being re-planted with an additional five Zamia palms at the site last week. Approximately 200 trees and 2,300 shrubs many of them native are being planted at the site, due for completion soon! 24.01.2022 Do you know a young BMX rider? The Lions Club of Gosnells recently leant the City a hand to construct this Peewee (mini BMX) track at Chelsfield Park in Gosnells. The Club was keen to help the City in the redevelopment of the park, and we think theyve done a terrific job! Once complete, the park will also feature: - Nature based playground with shade sails, sand and rubber soft-fall - Large lawn areas with sports multi-goal - New seating - Bike racks... - Lighting - Drink fountain Chelsfield Park is expected to be completed late this year. 23.01.2022 Council has recently made the City of Gosnells Parking Amendment Local Law 2020 for the purpose of amending the City of Gosnells Parking Local Law 2012. The effect is to remove clauses covered in State legislation and make minor amendments to various parking restrictions in the district. The local law was gazetted on 20 November 2020 and will become operational 14 days after that date. 22.01.2022 Now here’s a good mews story Ally the cat has been reunited with her owner Robyn after going missing for more than two years! Ally was lost from the suburb of Shelley in June 2018 and our Rangers recently found her in Kenwick. As Ally was microchipped, a quick check of her details meant she could be returned to her happy and surprised owner. What a purrfect ending! 21.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that the City is a state finalist in the national Australian Event Awards 2020, in the Coates Hire Best Community Event category. Our Home But Not Alone initiative began to keep our residents connected and engaged with their community while staying home to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This included a number of unique driveway-based events including delivering 35,000 Easter eggs, a Driveway Disco and a fireworks display all without breaking WAs physical distancing rules. 20.01.2022 The Citys Operations Centre offers recycling for a variety of items that cant be recycled in your regular kerbside recycling bin. Fluorescent light globes, x-rays, car batteries and motor oil can be dropped off in special designated bins located just inside the gates at the Citys Operations Centre 2 Canning Park Avenue (off Kelvin Road), Maddington. 19.01.2022 Local residents near Robinson Park in Gosnells celebrated their newly transformed park with a community event featuring a free sausage sizzle, inflatable play equipment and activities for children and youth. The 2.9ha park is part of a multi-million dollar redevelopment project and features a nature-based all-abilities playground, picnic areas, barbecues, a path network, basketball half-court, off-leash dog exercise area and extensive tree planting and landscaping. 14.01.2022 Two new Speed Advisory Signs have recently been installed on Shreeve Road in Canning Vale. These signs measure the speed of vehicles and display each vehicle's speed as it approaches the sign. Recent data suggests that these signs have already shown to reduce speeds. The signs act as a great reminder for road users to continue to adhere to the speed limit and keep our local streets safe.

10.01.2022 Around 200 Gosnells and Southern River residents gathered at Jean Garvey Park in Gosnells for the first of four family-friendly Your Neighbourhood events. Designed to improve safety and raise awareness about crime prevention, the event included a free sausage sizzle and family activities, and participants were able to chat with City staff and local Police. Big thanks to our partners in the initiative - WA Police Force, Rotary Club Of Gosnells, City of Gosnells Volunteer Bus...h Fire Brigade and Gosnells District Neighbourhood Watch. 09.01.2022 If you're visiting the Civic Centre today, please approach the carpark with caution. A family of ducks is exploring the adjacent lawn area and they're not familiar with road safety rules. There have also been other reported sightings of ducks alongside local roads, so please take care if you see any of our feathered friends attempting to navigate their way around the City.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to the Citys first round of graduates from the Community Innovators, Volunteers and Leaders (CIVAL) Workshop. CIVAL is a partnership project between multiple local governments designed to support newly arrived community members by giving them training opportunities, learn valuable skills and a chance to develop a community initiative. Five women completed the CIVAL leadership course and one of the participants organised a Food Basket project to provide essen...tial goods for families in need during Ramadan and in the early stages of the COVID-19 restrictions when many families were losing their jobs and there were no face-to-face gatherings. Another participant volunteered to assist vulnerable residents with their shopping deliveries during COVID-19, a service offered through the Citys Community Hotline. 02.01.2022 The first stage of the exciting Gosnells Town Centre revitalisation is now underway. The new-look town square will provide better access from Albany Highway and create a more usable, safer and friendly community space. With construction beginning today, the vacant land adjacent to the Agonis will not be available for parking. The Knowledge Centre library at the Agonis and other nearby businesses and services will remain open during the redevelopment period.... 02.01.2022 Are you guilty of wish-cycling? You think it should be recycled, so you put it in your yellow kerbside bin? There is a misconception that some common items can be placed in your yellow recycling bin, when in reality they may contaminate other materials (such as nappies and dirty food containers), or require highly specialised recycling processes (such as small plastic lids, electronic waste and clothing). Things like dirty disposable nappies, soft plastic packaging, plast...ic milk lids, electronic items and old clothing cant be placed in your yellow kerbside recycling bin, but may be recycled in other ways.
