25.01.2022 Great news for Emerald Hill and Middle Park Library regulars :)
25.01.2022 Here's a summary of current COVID-19 restrictions from the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services:
25.01.2022 Play It Safe Port Phillip! As we start to experience some welcome sunny spring weather, picnicking outdoors in small groups with family and friends is the Melbourne mood of the moment. If you’re planning to head out to enjoy some fresh air and Vitamin D with family and friends, please remember those COVID-safe habits we’ve all been diligently practicing for the past few months:... Remember the 1.5 metres golden rule and maintain physical distancing between yourself and others. And if you’re in St Kilda, give the physical distancing circles at South Beach Reserve a try! Wear your face mask, except when you’re eating or drinking or if you have a lawful exception Don’t gather in large groups current restrictions require groups to include a maximum of five people from up to two households Good hand hygiene is key! carry hand sanitiser with you and use it regularly after touching items and surfaces while you’re out. And don’t forget to wash your hands before you leave and when you return home. To help keep our outdoor spaces clean, safe and fun, we’ve also added extra bins and bin collections at our beaches so please make sure you bin your rubbish or take it with you when you leave. You’ll also see our Local Laws officers out and about along the foreshore. We’ve come so far so let’s keep taking these important steps to keep our community safe and healthy while everyone is outside enjoying the good weather at our beaches, parks and open spaces. #playitsafeportphillip The Council Election Period for the City of Port Phillip is until 6 pm Saturday 24 October. This post has been authorised by the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Port Phillip, 99A Carlisle Street St Kilda.
24.01.2022 Support our local buzz! Check who's open for business in your hood and would love your support: https://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/open-for-business #livelovelocal #supportporthillip
24.01.2022 We love our seniors in Port Phillip and, luckily for us, they are sending the affection back - straight to our stomachs! As part of this year’s annual Seniors Festival, some generous over 55s from our Greek community opened their hearts and family vaults to share delicious recipes that have been passed down through generations. It’s all part of celebrating the enormous contribution our over 55’s make to our wonderful city. This year’s festival activities may have occurred onl...ine due to COVID-19 restrictions but that didn't stop the community spirit of our sprightly seniors from shining through. So, if you want a taste of Zakynthos, try Cathy’s Haloumi bread and creamy Galaktoboureko dessert. If the Peloponissos are more to your liking, then Connie’s cabbage rolls in egg and lemon sauce will take your taste buds there. Terry’s Koulourakia (egg biscuits) and Greek Pastitsio (lasagna) are not to be missed and leave some room for Anthimos’ taste of Kozani via his legendary Greek Souvlaki! All the Greek recipes can be found on our website: https://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/seniors-festival Kaló fagitó (good eating)! #belongportphillip #livelovelocal

21.01.2022 Great news! The most recent audit of our yellow recycling bins has shown a slight decrease in the amount of contamination compared with six months earlier. There’s still work to be done as our audits are still finding common contamination offenders that shouldn’t be in your yellow recycling bin like plastic bags, clothes and even food! Check the list of what should and shouldn’t go in your recycling bin and let’s get recycling sorted: https://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au//wa...ste-/recycling-reset #NationalRecyclingWeek #dontwasteit

15.01.2022 Together, let’s get recycling sorted! Contamination in your yellow-lidded recycling bin is bad for the environment because valuable resources end up in landfill. It also costs Council money which we’d prefer to be spending on services for our community. Check what goes in the yellow recycling bin: https://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au//waste-/recycling-reset... #NationalRecyclingWeek #dontwasteit

04.01.2022 As COVID-19 restrictions ease and our City starts to get back on its feet, alongside our neighbouring inner-city councils we are beginning a staged return to parking enforcement. With more local businesses set to reopen, and as more people once again start moving about our City, this will help increase the turnover of car parking spaces to provide fair access for everyone. This week we’ve reintroduced a temporary 30-minute grace period for all timed parking (green signs) acr...oss the City of Port Phillip. Cautions will be issued to vehicles who overstay this period, but no parking infringements will be issued at this stage. (Note: the reopening date for businesses is managed by the Victorian Government as part of the steps on the roadmap and will be announced by them when they come to that step.) We’ll keep you updated on any changes as the staged reintroduction of parking restrictions continues. Check our website for more information about changes to parking restrictions and the latest updates: https://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au//events-services-and-pr The Council Election Period for the City of Port Phillip is until 6 pm Saturday 24 October.
