12.01.2022 A shout out to Fire and Rescue NSW who were quick to assist with a fire in a recycling truck in Cringila this morning. While initially the plan had been to take the ‘hot load’, as it’s called, to the Wollongong Waste and Resource Recovery Park to be extinguished, but it was spreading too quickly and was considered too risky. Instead, the load was tipped into a carpark of the soccerfields near Merrett Ave so that Fire & Rescue NSW could put it out quickly and safely. Our crews have now cleaned the area thoroughly. While the cause of the fire is being investigated, it’s a good reminder to only put recyclables into the yellow-topped recycle bin! http://www.wollongongwaste.com.au/Recycling-Collection-Serv
