21.01.2022 CityServe Shellharbour at McDonald Park. Come along today before 3pm and join in the transformation of our city through service. #CityServeShellharbour #CityServe

21.01.2022 Hello all. I have made another trip to Wingello today to meet with David Brugemans, owner of the Wingello Village Store. Further discussions regarding the pending CityServe event have resulted in a request to postpone the CityServe day in Wingello due to the forcasted high temperatures for Saturday and the increased risk of more fires on the day. ... The RFS support this decision in veiw of any need for evacuation of Wingello residents. Wingello maintain their appreciation for the CityServe intention and await a new date to be set. Therefore, please note, the CityServe day in Wingello this Saturday 1st February has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another date.... Thank you for your continued support and that of CityServe and the Wingello Community. Please do not go the Wingello this weekend, as they are in prep mode for possible evacuation. Please don't hesitate to contact me on my email on: [email protected] Cheers Leeanne Cityserve Shellharbour.

20.01.2022 Hello all. On behalf of Ps's Shane Cook and Hengki Widjaja (CityServe Shellharbour and Wollongong) I have been in discussion with Ps Christine Murray of Bay Life Church Batemans Bay. For all churches that have indicated their heart to assist in restoring Batemans Bay a Combined Churches Relief Event will be held on a date still to be confirmed. ... The combined effort of the churches will increase the efficiency in provideing assistance to the residents of Batemans Bay. The big jobs of clearing areas devastated by the fires where homes have been lost are a no go zone and will be under the direction of other agencies. I envisage that our service will be to assist those whose homes have been impacted by minimal fire damage, but more so the removal of residue of ash, mud etc from the homes (inside and out), driveways, cars and restoring gardens etc. This is only a sample of work to be done. As previously indicated a specific date has not yet be determined, however I will get that information out as soon as possible. I thank you for any support your church is able to provide for this combined initiative and will communicate again with you asap. If you have any enquires please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] Ps Christine has received calls to assist and is appreciative of all assistance offers. However, she had indicated that a central point of communication would be preferred. Ps Christine is happy for CityServe to centralise that information release. We are hoping to open up a CityServe Website specific for Bay Life Church for all info to go through there including updates etc. Until then please permit CityServe Shellharbour to be your point of update. Cheers Leeanne. CityServe Shellharbour

19.01.2022 Hi all. I am meeting with Wingello Community leaders soon, however I am aware that there are three farmers needing assistance with restoring their fences. I already have one team of four heading up to Wingello for one of the farms. ... I am seeking up to 8 preferrably strong men to assist in restoring the fences for the other rwo farms. Four in each team. If you have fencing experience or are able to assist in this area please let me know asap. We will be going up to Wingello on Saturday Feb 1st, expecting to be onsite at 0930 at the latest. If you can bring together your own team that would be great, or we can assign you to a team. We are also looking at teams of youth and adults wanting to assist families in the community to provide clean up assistance for yards and gardens etc. Please note, we request not to have children onsite due to the hazzards. However if children are onsite participating in this CityServe event ALL responsibilities will remain with their parent/guardian. Please note, we will not be doing the removal from site of rubbish, housing materials etc. The homes that have been lost to the fires will remain as No Go Zones. Please do not enter any of these sites. Sign on will be at the Wingello General Store from 0830am. Catering for the volunteers will be provided. Please Pre-register your attendance at: http://cityserve.com.au/shellharbour-signup/ Pre-registration provides information for team allocation and for catering. I thank you all for your continued support.

19.01.2022 What a great day we had at McDonald Park.

18.01.2022 Hi all. I have spoken to Ps Christine Murray from Bay Life Church in Batemans Bay this morning. So far they have been very generously loved upon with trucks of food and water. So for now no need for that issue. Electricity has been restored and most of the commercial centres are open and operating. ... Global Care International has sent in a disarster relief trailor to assist the community also. Where do we go from here? ..... At this point Christine says that everything is still so variable with fires, with no immediate danger, but with spot fires etc. There has been a lot of local support for the community's immediate needs, however even though many resources have been sent or will be sent a workforce will still be needed to assist in the long term clean up. We are looking for a volunteer workforce to go to Batemans Bay 1st February. However, we also don't want to be superfluous or in excess to their need on the day. And therefore may still consider if a CityServe event may be organised to go to other communities on the same day. We discussed the needs of communities that are closer to us such as Kangaroon Valley and Bundanoon. I will look to see what opportunities exist there and feed back to you asap. Thank you for your support. I'll be back here to feedback to you asap. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any suggestions etc. Cheers Leeanne Gill CityServe Shellharbour. 0417027472

18.01.2022 Hello all, I have continued to meet with the community leaders of Wingello Village today with David Rankin, and will meet again with them on this Saturday 25th January to further discuss the opportunities for CityServe to assist the residents of Wingello following the devasting fires that have impacted their community. 15.01.2022 Hello all, I went to Wingello and Kangaroo Valley today and met with the community leaders there. Each are very keen for CityServe to be a part of the recovery in their respective communities. Wingello is a very small community just over an hour south west of Albion Park. It is a very close community, however it has minimal resources and will definitely be on our agenda to send volunteers there when the insurance assessments have been completed. This will take time and we ...just need to be patient. The Wingello Village Association is meeting next week and will have a better idea of what they need. The Kangaroo Valley community met this evening, which I also attended and they also need time to complete their assessments and determine how to go about their restoration. I have another meeting with both communities next week to gather more information about how CityServe will assist the residents etc. There are many agencies involved and providing much assistance. These include: Legal Aid, Departemt of Human Services, Centre Link, The Office of Disaster Management, Red Cross, Disaster Welfare to name a few. This is in addition to the Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Wingeecarribee and Sutherland Councils, The RFS, Blaze Aid, The Army, Wildlife Rescus groups, Social Workers. All of these groups are on the ground and already engaged in assisting the two communities. Please direct any enquiries you have to me and I will do my best to get you answers. The Batemans Bay area is well assisted by many of the agencies as listed above in addition to Global Care Disaster Relief team from Brisbane. Therefore we have been somewhat directed to focus on those communities closer to home, hence Wingello and Kangaroon Valley. I also met with a gentleman from The Disaster Recovery Chaplaincy Network. He has been in the Valley throughout the recovery since the fires last week. He said that many of the people in these communities also just need the opportunity to talk, so when we are there take the time to listen. No need to provide advice, just be a great listener. I will feedback further to you next week. Thank you for your support and your continued patience. I have enclosed below some photo taken in Wingello. Cheers Leeanne.

15.01.2022 Ps Shane Cook. CityServe Shellharbour meeting up at McDonald Park, Saturday 6th April 8am -3pm. Come along, bring your family and friends for an opportunity to transform our city through service.

15.01.2022 Hi all, Yesterday I met again with the community leaders of the Wingello Village. There is much excitement around CityServe coming to Wingello next Saturday 1st February 2020. Most of the residents have now had their insurance assessments attended. However, they now wait for their assessments to be processed which may take some time before they receive their claim payment. Insurance in most circumstances will cover removal and restoration of things lost, however most reside...Continue reading
