24.01.2022 COVID-19 (Cornavirus) and pets, what you should know Can my pet get Cornavirus?? There is no evidence that pets can be infected with the new strain of Cornavirus ... If it can’t be transmitted to pets, how did a dog in Hong Kong test positive?? A canine in Hong Kong tested positive due to the infected owner spreading large amounts of respiratory pathogens. Those particles of the virus ended up in the dogs nose, due to sniffing etc, which lead to the dog to have a weak positive result. The pet has shown no clinical signs and is being quarantined until further notice For all new information regarding COVID 19 please visit reliable and trustworthy websites such as World Health Organisation for updates.

20.01.2022 This is Cisco! Poor Cisco had an upset stomach, and had to be treated with intensive fluid therapy and antibiotics after some nasty diarrhoea. After a camp out overnight, and some delicious low fat, gastrointestinal food, he was feeling so much better!

19.01.2022 Boston came in to our Waterford clinic today after it was suspected he ate some pretty nasty chicken that was thrown into the backyard and made him feel quite sick. With a little Anti - nausea medication, and a lot of love from one very obsessed nurse in particular, Boston was able to go home after a day of monitoring. 10/10 - always the best boy.

16.01.2022 We are excited to announce that we are now offering grooming services at our Waterford Practice. After a long awaited renovation, we have our lovely qualified groomer Brianna now available for bookings from Monday the 23rd of November 2020. If you are wanting your beloved pooch looking fabulous for the festive season, then call us now to secure a booking!... A little bit more on our groomer Brianna: I’ve always had a passion for dogs and grooming since I was a young child. My grooming journey started with my own Show Dogs; primarily Finnish Lapphunds but also Cocker Spaniels and more recently Golden Retrievers. I then worked with one of Logan‘s premier grooming Salons for a few years before opening my own boutique Salon. My specialty is Double-Coated breeds, but I love all breeds big and small. I believe we should never stop learning so I’m often expanding my skills by attending specialist grooming seminars and workshops. My new found love is Asian Fusion and Creative Grooming. My ethos is your dog is my number one priority - their grooming experience should be as stress-free and positive as possible to make sure they feel relaxed and refreshed. I’m looking forward to joining the City Vet Waterford team and pampering your pooches Follow Brianna's grooming page here: http://www.facebook.com/breesdoggrooming

14.01.2022 In all this madness we still like to make time for the most important thing..... PUPPY CUDDLES At least we don’t have to stay 1.5m from this cutie!
13.01.2022 Our community vet clinics have seen an increase in patients suffering from paralysis tick - some with heartbreaking outcomes. Every year the paralysis tick will... cause illness in over 100,000 companion animals on the east coast of Australia. Not only is the paralysis tick one of the most common, it’s also one of the most dangerous. Once paralysis occurs the animal is likely to die unless it is treated quickly by a vet. If your pet is showing any signs of tick paralysis, you should take them to a veterinarian for immediate treatment. It can take 48 hours for the toxin to be removed, full recovery can often take weeks. Paralysis ticks can lead to an animal needing to be ventilated and sadly many victims of these ticks do not recover. 12.01.2022 How cute is this! Little Edgar the Pug X was in seeing our Groomer, Peta for a bath and blow dry when he spotted these two other pups. It’s safe to say, he showed them who’s boss!
12.01.2022 Look at this sleepy girl who decided her cage was not the bed for her today. Lilly was in at our Waterford clinic today to have a lump removed from under her elbow! Such an annoying place to have a lump. After Dr. Alan saw her previously to test the cells in this lump, he suspected something suspicious so she was booked in straight away to have it removed and sent off to the lab for testing. Fingers crossed for Lilly it’s nothing nasty!

03.01.2022 Molly the Schipperke (or fruit bat) decided she’d eat some raisins which ended up needing a trip to the emergency centre. Molly came back in yesterday for a day of monitoring and staying on her IV fluids. Did you know that raisins are just one common food that are highly toxic to dogs? They can have some serious impact on kidney function, so all grapes/raisins and sultanas need to stay out of their reach!
