23.01.2022 Music has been used for centuries as a form of expression and is widely known for having a direct positive impact on an individual's physical, emotional, and cognitive functioning. For mental health, this form of therapy is great for reducing stress' common negative side effects, such as emotional and behavioral concerns. Bron, from Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, has been doing music therapy for over a year now. She plays beautiful sounding music on a steel drum. Musical... tones are created through the vibrating tongue of steel. Support Worker, Willem, says "Music therapy has been hugely beneficial for Bron, allowing her to develop tools to emotionally regulate herself and make her feel calm". Watch this magnificent video of Bron jamming out to her own meditation music.

10.01.2022 Our salute to the sun! As we work towards becoming a more sustainable organisation, and look to reduce our energy footprint, the introduction of renewable energy sources such as solar power for our main sites is a logical next step in our Green Warriors initiative. Harvesting the power of the sun, we have installed a 38.28kW "solar garden" on the roof of our main office. Civic was awarded partial funding for the project by the office of NSW Attorney General, Mark Speak...man, following a successful Community Building Partnerships Program application. The grant program is part of the NSW Government's commitment to investing in infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes, while promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion. Civic Industries will benefit from the installation with energy savings monitored on an ongoing basis, giving us an overall picture on how we are tracking when it comes to energy consumption.
