05.01.2022 CBW Project - Ghin Ghin Bridge replacement - Yea/Seymour The ageing single-lane bridge was replaced with a new 2-lane structure with an unlimited load-carrying capacity and a lifespan of 100+ years. It was replaced in only 3 weeks! ... Normally, construction of a bridge of this type would require a 4-5 month closure, however using innovative construction & design techniques resulted in a quick erection time by allowing most components to be built off-site. The 4-span integral bridge structure of 74m in length was constructed from precast façade panel pier and abutment components, prestressed T-beam deck stringer beams, and a cast in place deck slab; making the complete structure monolithic for resistance to potential overtopping flood flows.
