25.01.2022 An employer receiving JobKeeper payments can ask an eligible employee to work additional hours, but the usual requirements in the Fair Work Act apply. Any addit...ional hours worked need to be reasonable, and you can refuse to work unreasonable additional hours. If the only reason for a request to work additional hours is to ‘match’ the amount of the JobKeeper payment, that is not likely to be reasonable. Your employer also needs to comply with any other terms and conditions of employment that apply to you (like the rules from your award, enterprise agreement or employment contract). Your employer must pay your usual base rate of pay for the additional hours, as well as any penalty rates or overtime pay that may apply.
