25.01.2022 I’ve got some exciting news to share with you this morning: Work is now officially underway on a major project that has been talked about for decades - Ocean Re...ef Marina. It’s an idea that was first floated in the 1970s and it was a key commitment that we made at the last election. Since then we’ve worked hard to get this project off the ground. And today I can also announce another exciting component of the project with plans now including Perth’s first coastal pool. The pool will be located within the protected beach area and will be available for locals and visitors to swim laps and to play aquatic sports This is a landmark project with big numbers attached to it in terms of jobs and investment. The first stage of works, which are now underway, involves ground works to facilitate the construction of Marina infrastructure and public amenities. Latest modelling shows it will result in an estimated $3 billion boost to the broader economy and create more than 8,000 construction jobs.

24.01.2022 A deep low-pressure system is travelling towards WA, bringing heavy rain and strong winds for nearly the whole of the west coast this Sunday! This is a rare... event for this time of year and it's due to the remnants of a tropical low tracking towards WA and interacting with a cold front, causing the low to deepen. The last time an event like this occurred was June 2012, which led to over 600 calls for assistance and over 170,000 homes losing power. Bureau of Meteorology has produced an animation to show the predicted track for the low-pressure system, which will determine areas predicted to cop the worst of the weather. Most storm damage is preventable, so it's important you start getting ready over the coming days by: - Tying down loose items (like those pesky trampolines) - Check your roof for any damaged tiles and clear your gutters - Pack away outdoor furniture and items that could be moved by winds - Trimming any branches near your house Keep up to date as the situation changes Find the latest alerts and warnings at https://bit.ly/2fU94Yo Keep an eye on the weather at https://bit.ly/2WRuj0x Find your local ABC Radio Station: https://ab.co/2XnaMnU When you need SES assistance after severe weather, call 132 500

09.01.2022 Found this extract from Wheels magazine ,May 1992, At the time this news was huge as it was the prelude to the proper return of V8 Ford V Holden battle that sti...ll rages today. EB1 was the weapon with it's Roush & Yates Nascar inspired 5ltr V8. It wasn't until a few months after this article that CAMS banned the car as they deemed it too fast and not legal. This was highlighted on the media promotions day at Bathurst '92 when Dick Johnson lapped EB1 approx 2 seconds quicker than the only EB Falcon competing that year, driven by Glenn Seton in official qualifying, clocking just shy of 300kph on Conrod Straight. DJ entrusted Neil Lowe to build EB1 at a cost of over $300 000, which back in '92 was some coin. Lowe was the manager of DJRs highly successful Ford Sierra programme. Will keep you updated with some exciting resto progress which has just started. See more

06.01.2022 We're moving ahead with plans for a new port in Kwinana, and a new freight network that will take freight trucks off suburban roads. Fremantle Port has served o...ur State well for the last one hundred years but its capacity is constrained, as are its transport links. Keeping Fremantle as Perth’s only container port will mean more trucks in the suburbs and would cost the State around $8 billion in road, rail and port infrastructure. And even then, it would be a second rate solution - it is just not feasible. It’s now time to plan and build the next big piece of economic infrastructure that sets our State up for the next century. A new port at Kwinana will take container trucks out of the suburbs and away from roads that are not designed to the modern standard we now expect to handle freight traffic. It will create tens of thousands of jobs over the long-term, and set our State up for the future. Western Australia’s new port will be a 21st century facility, embracing the latest in port design to create the capability to take the world’s largest ships. A new, modern freight corridor via Anketell Road and Tonkin Highway will stretch from Muchea to the South West, and connect to the new port. This freight corridor will also be supported by an enhanced rail network and new terminals. The time for band-aids and short term thinking is over. We need to be ready for the future - for the benefit of our State’s long term economic prosperity.
