25.01.2022 Our minds are wandering I thought at first it was just me but I’ve realised in recent weeks that a lot of us are in the same boat. For some of us this should be our most creative time with less social engagements and less time commuting. For others, such as myself, we need to make our work time as productive as possible to manage home schooling and children simultaneously.... And yet, our focus is often on stories of COVID-19, when the lockdown may abate and kids will return to school, or updates on our own industries and what our new ‘normal’ will be for the coming months. It’s difficult for businesses to know what their audiences want to hear about right now. For travel companies, are they looking for travel inspiration or are images of exotic destinations too much to bear right now?! Personally, I’m starting to dream about intrastate experiences in the coming months and interstate holidays for later this year. No one wants to be insensitive and have the opposite effect of repelling customers. So why not survey your database/followers to discover what they really want? You could do that via a more organised SurveyMonkey questionnaire or a fun series of Insta Story polls. Where’s your head at? We’d love to hear your honest response #InThisTogether -Christina- See more

21.01.2022 Guess who's back, back again? Amy's back, tell a friend! We're ecstatic to welcome Amy Gardner back from maternity leave. Amy will be using her digital marketing superpowers to work on content creation for clients as she eases back into her role as PR Consultant. 21.01.2022 Not too long ago, in better times when travel journalists and in-flight magazines were in full swing, Briar Jensen (Briar's Travel Beat) crafted this beautiful story. Briar travelled in October 2019 to Cape York and surrounds for our client Bamaga Enterprises, and this fantastic read appeared in the February/March 2020 edition of Rex's True Blue magazine. Did you know we work with journalists and influencers to experience our tourism clients’ destinations and experiences? The...re’s nothing like a first-hand experience to write from the heart. We love promoting the activities of Indigenous companies such as Bamaga Enterprises Ltd and Cape York Peninsula Lodge, as well as the Northern Peninsula Area (Queensland). Thanks also to Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) and Publishing ByChelle for their support. Hopefully our travel journalist friends will roam the globe again in the not-too-distant future. Who’s visited ‘The Tip’ or has it on their bucket list?

19.01.2022 Any PR worth their salt will tell you a good working relationship with a journalist is worth its weight in gold. Yet so many PRs do small things that put those relationships in jeopardy. We've asked our journalist friends and heard about their pet peeves. Read our blog to learn how you can make journalists love working with you. https://ckpr.com.au/build-better-relationships-journalists/

16.01.2022 Melbourne’s positioning as the home of major events is a great success story. Today we’re learning how to contribute to positive, rather than negative outcomes for our industry at the Victoria University masterclass: Major Events as a Catalyst for Positive Change. Which events around the world do you think make for positive change? Victoria University, Melbourne Australia

16.01.2022 We worked with our new client Adventure Tourism Victoria and the Travel Play Live - Women's Adventure & Lifestyle team to highlight some awesome experiences around Vic once travel opens up. We'd like to thank Fiona Harper and Travel Play Live for supporting these operators who have so much to offer but have had so many challenges this year. What's the first thing you'll do once travel in Victoria opens up?

15.01.2022 We're loving these tips today from The Digital Picnic about tone of voice in marketing i.e. the personality that shines through via your communications, including social media captions. Have you given thought to how your brand comes across to your audience? Are you being too corporate when you should actually be chilled? And even if you're in financial services, how does your brand stand out from the crowd?

15.01.2022 Any of these gorgeous titles could become an endangered species so buy one now! We thought the long weekend was a great time to pore through a magazine while nibbling on chocolate. In the ultimate paradox, many media outlets are currently seeing an increase in audiences but a decrease in advertising (their life blood). On the one hand, people now have more time to read publications and watch live television due to having more time at home. On the other hand, many bu...sinesses are currently in a holding pattern and reducing their marketing spend. We were saddened to hear of a remote community newspaper closing its doors recently in their specific case, they also didn’t have the flights available to deliver their papers. On top of this, Bauer Media’s acquisition of Pacific Magazines has now been approved by the ACCC so can all titles survive (House & Garden vs Better Homes & Gardens, for example)? Go on, pull a mag off the shelf when you’re next at the supermarket or newsagency, feel the smooth touch of their pages, and inhale the glorious aroma of print - or purchase a subscription online. Which magazine did you last purchase or read? Australian Gourmet Traveller Vacations & Travel InStyle Australia Wellbeing Magazine Prevention Magazine Australia *Thanks to Traveloscopy for inspiring this post!

14.01.2022 Trolls. No, not the silly ones with colourful hair or the ones you’re not meant to feed after midnight. We’re talking about dreaded internet trolls. Unfortunately, managing internet trolls has become an inevitable part of running any business these days and if you don’t keep on top of them they can do some serious damage to your business. Thankfully, you can take some sensible precautions to redirect, minimise, counter and sometimes even make fun of these keyboard g...oblins. We can’t stop laughing at some of the great troll shutdowns from clever brands out there such as Hot Pockets and Sainsbury's. All jokes aside, if you're having trouble with trolls, we’ve put together a handy guide for managing them for you. https://ckpr.com.au/managing-trolls/ Have you ever had to deal with trolls in your business? 14.01.2022 We're dreaming of anywhere but home, including our The Space office in Brunswick East, Melbourne. Surrounded by lovely, creative and supportive people; a colourful but minimalist aesthetic that suits us to a tee; the smells of evocative - but not overpowering - essential oils; and the sounds of the Spotify playlist that has juuuuust the right vibe. Who else is missing their office vibes? Or is working from home feeling like the right fit for you at the moment?... *Photo by André Elhay

06.01.2022 It’s been a tough start to the year for the tourism industry with the dual impact of bushfires and the Covid-19 coronavirus. 06.01.2022 Remember when we did that The Digital Picnic Content Planning Intensive Workshop aaages ago, but then we became crazy busy and had to drop our social media activity for a little while? We finally completed our business photo shoot in early March to refresh our digital content, including our website, and had a lot of fun in the process too! Professional shots are an important way to make your brand stand out in your social feeds. ... You may not be able to organise a professional shoot right now (unless your photographer comes to your home and stands back 1.5 metres) but it IS a great time to be drafting content and planning ahead. Sure, you may have to adapt, just like we have since COVID-19 happened and now most of our content needs tweaking BUT you will have a great starting point, just like we have. Think about your marketing messages and complementary images, so when the market kicks back into action, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running. Are you working on a rebound strategy for your brand? We’d love to hear your tips for capturing the right kinds of images for your social media channels we’re always learning, too.

04.01.2022 From floating saunas to luxe island escapes, it's great to see our client Snellings View sitting pretty among some incredible destination holiday ideas. Thanks for the feature, Family Circle Australia magazine! "This little slice of paradise, located 45 minutes from Kingscote, offers uninterrupted views of the seascape and with no Wi-Fi you’ll be invited to truly unwind from the everyday hustle."

04.01.2022 Throwing back to Christina's first travel industry role at Spirit of Tasmania, back in the day when having a lot of desk space was the norm (and may soon be again?). Rocking those foils while hard at work, we think we also spy a Sunday The Mercury Newspaper clipped on the board and a Myer-Briggs personality profile taped to the wall (Manager's request). It looks like it's shot with an old phone, so not the best resolution, but what else can you spy?

02.01.2022 Flashback to 2015 and Melbourne Latin Festival's dancers sparkle at a media shoot in 2015, which was the fourth time we had worked with this colourful event. Melbourne Latin Festival was our first client back in 2011 so will always maintain a special place in our heart, as will its founder and friend, Natalie Montano. The event is currently in hiatus but will hopefully return down the track to celebrate all things Latin dance.
