25.01.2022 Hazard Reduction burn at Oxenford is go. #protectingthecommunity #fireonground

25.01.2022 The Gold Coast Rural Fire Brigade Group represents 15 Volunteer Fire Brigades that rely on the funding that the Gold Coast City Council has been collecting for ...several years on our behalf. This has been done via a special levy charge of $1 on the yearly rates notice. The Gold Coast City Council has voted to now cease the collection of $1 from rate payers. The funds collected are vital in the operation of the Gold Coast Groups Volunteer Fire Brigades. Our Group of Brigades and its volunteers are extremely concerned at how we will be supported financially after the final levy payment of only $1 is collected by the Gold Coast City Council. We are asking for the communities of the Gold Coast that you voice your opinion about the $1 levy and ask the question to your local Councillor why they have decided not to collect the levy to support our volunteers. 24.01.2022 A great recognition of the work of firefighters last season - commemorated with a new $2 coin going into circulation. Thanks for your support, Royal Australian Mint.

23.01.2022 ***Springbrook Fire Update*** The fire at Springbrook is on the West escarpment near the split road and is still burning, mostly in inaccessible areas. Multiple... Gold Coast brigades along with Mudgeeraba are currently working to contain & extinguish it. There are aircraft mapping the fire currently and water bombing has been requested. Fire command is set up at Apple Tree park, so please avoid the area and watch out for trucks and fire fighters coming and going. SLOW DOWN. There's smoke, trucks and people moving around the Apple Tree Flats / Split road area.

20.01.2022 You may have Queensland’s Large Air Tanker (LAT) Bomber 141 deploy to lend a hand with firefighting efforts on Fraser Island (K'gari) today. The LAT has ma...de three drops in front of the fire as a way to aid ground crews from QFES and QPWS as they work to strengthen containment lines and slow the progress of the blaze. Capable of a cruise speed (loaded) up to 670km/h, this LAT gets from its Bundaberg base to assist crews on scene in less than 20 minutes. See more

14.01.2022 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I. 14.01.2022 Hazard Reduction burns over the next few days!

11.01.2022 Gold Coast Rural Fire Brigade Group and the 15 Volunteer Fire Brigades we represent wish to thank the community for the amazing support and feedback we have rec...eived over the past few days. The below news article was published in today’s Gold Coast Bulletin. Gold Coast City Councils stance on the issue is that our funding should be a state government responsibility, at present there is no commitment from state to take over our funding. We ask for the local community to keep asking why the decision was made to remove the $1 special Levy with no consultation with the rate payers of the Gold Coast. See more

10.01.2022 Little firefighter in the making After attending a training day held by the Gold Coast Rural Fire Brigade Group, Lincoln was inspired to get training right... away. Lincoln found the perfect trainer when he also discovered his dad, Ryan, used to be a firefighter with the CFA in Victoria. His parents Seeta and Ryan set up an obstacle course which leads to Lincoln finally putting a pretend fire out. "I said all good fire fighters must train so they can handle any situation. Now all he wants is a fire fighter hat to wear," Seeta said. Great work Lincoln, mum & dad,

10.01.2022 Congratulations to our new 2nd Officer Dave

04.01.2022 This Time Last Year: It was between the 8 and 10 August 2019 that the first significant spike in bush fire activity occurred in northern NSW. Fires near Crescen...t Head and Turners Flat at Kempsey were running and threatening homes. There was more than 50 fires burning across NSW and a forecast of strengthening winds. The 2019-20 fire season was underway. Video: Loftus Rd - Crescent Head on 10 August. See more

03.01.2022 Would you think that inside a car is a good place to shelter from a bushfire? "A lot of fatalities in bushfires are caused by people who just leave the decision to leave far too late." #BigWeather #YourPlanetAU #bushfireplanning #ReadyTogether

02.01.2022 Firefighters battled the Elsmere Fire in Newhall today. Quite a few close calls as the 130-acre blaze ripped through canyons along SR-14 and Sierra Highway in N...ewhall in some gusty winds and high temperatures. Crews will continue to build hand and dozer lines overnight. Acres burned = 130 Containment = > 50% No active flames. Thanks to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Angeles National Forest, and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

01.01.2022 To the Gold Coast Community We have been overwhelmed with your support in the opposition of the council’s secret move to remove without any consultation or disc...ussion, the $1 a year per property levy from the Gold Coast volunteer fire brigades. We as the group of volunteer brigades on the Gold Coast just wanted to let you know how your money is spent each year protecting our community. The monies collected allow brigades to: Ensure vital pieces of equipment like generators, chainsaws, blower vacs and portable pumps are Serviced Ensures our operational firefighters have access to food on the fire ground for shifts that can sometimes last up to 24 hours Cater for training events and assessment days Allows us to buy stationary products to ensure we can deliver community messaging as well as training and general clerical activities required Funding of first aid training including the use of emergency oxygen and defibrillators Maintenance of fire stations including pest control, test and tag, fire extinguisher testing, emergency repairs and upgrades to essential items Purchase of helmet torches, small tools and equipment for station and general maintenance Ensuring we can place localized signage in our areas specific to local needs Organizing public open days to teach fire safety, allow community cohesiveness and recruit new members School and kindergarten visits And much much more.... All the monies received by each brigade is accounted for and all undergo annual external financial audits as well as annual budget submissions. The monies we receive is always where possible, spent in our local community supporting local businesses and allows us to engage in community support to everyone that supports you. We are proud to volunteer, and you can be proud that the Gold Coast has a fantastic, dedicated and professional group of volunteers ready to respond 24/7. We are supported by the State Government but there is a shortfall in funding and the GCCC have always helped by providing a levy to help maintain and enhance our volunteer brigades. It is the best way that has supported us to do what we do for many years and this is all done for $1 a year by the ratepayers. The council’s decision to remove a $1 levy for this vital service does not make sense. We are pleading for $1 a year from each property to help you, the community be safe. Thank you for your support Gold Coast.
