This also provides a great space for possums, birds, small reptiles and many more! Winter is the perfect time to plant natives in our Mediterranean climate because the cool, mild conditions and regular rains give the perfect chance to get a good start before the long, hot, dry summer ... arrives. 23.01.2022 While we normally bring you happy posts about veges and fruit and all things yummy......we felt the need to let all of our extended friends and family know that our fearless little Jessie has parted with this world and travelled to her next life. Jessie was very well known to our customers, usually for trying to guilt trip everyone into taking her home or blocking the driveway until she got some love. At approximately 17 years old, our little munchkin was sunbaking happily an...d drifted off peacefully. While she will be missed ever so greatly, we know she has been spoilt rotten with love the last 3 years after we rescued her. The farm just will not be the same without our little monster. As a family we would like to make a donation to the RSPCA WA who we have been a part of for many years now. We will be running a raffle and donation box and matching this with a donation from the family and another donation from the business. We hope you can all help make a difference xx

22.01.2022 So over the weekend we set about to create a native space along a unused boundary. While landscaping is not out forte, we received great advice from the specialists about planting, mulching and what to watch out for. This will be an ongoing project over the years, added to regularly!... This is wonderful for many reasons our bees loooooove the flowers that smell amazing! drought tolerant and hardy, natives are a great water-wise choice great for providing a visual barrier

All too often ugly produce that is perfectly great for our bodies, is thrown away because it does not meet the standard. Many of the bigger retailers then market seconds or uglies as a gimmick, when they are simply taking a tiny portion of what is actually to be thrown away. We can all do better!

10.01.2022 Plastic Free July! One of our lovelies tagged us in a post regarding packaging and the difficulty in getting strawberries and the like without plastic. Sadly this is true, and there are a limited number of farmers, marketers and stores that really put the effort in to do the right thing and reduce, or replace harmful plastics with alternative biodegradable products.... I also like to go a little further...... there are products that are advertised as biodegradable, however have you ever really had a look at how long it takes for these to complete that process? There is astounding variation! Our strawberries are in Bio Punnets, being reconstituted waste sugar cane. This is a byproduct of sugar making, and prevents it reaching landfill before we can put it to another use. After you have eaten you strawberries, you can fill the punnet with dirt and plant some seeds.

We are seeing more and more quality tomatoes coming into harvest, just in time for those tomato saucing queens to do there thing! Wether it be for sauce, passata, roasted, bottled or fresh, we will have bulk boxes of tomatoes available for you. 02.01.2022 It’s taken me a fair few weeks to find a way to explain the next step for Claireden Estate. The business was built from nothing but a passion to grow and provide. It soon became obvious that the business was growing faster than expected, hitting business targets early and with great success. Claireden Estate is now an independent business that supports staff and family while still giving back to the community. It is with a little sadness and a whole lot of anxiety that I let... you all know that I will no longer be operating Claireden Estate in its current form. Claireden Estate will continue commercial supply of gourmet and exotic herb, and sundry items to many of your independent owned supermarkets statewide. Unfortunately weekend coolroom sales will not continue for the foreseeable future. I have had so many laughs, so much joy and made so many friends on the journey that we have been on. It is a challenge to accept these changes as I know myself and may of you really enjoyed catch ups and conversations. I have met your newborns, your beautiful children and many family members, and together we made a great community. As many of you know I do not sit still long! I have recently been working on a artisan venture that allows me to spend more time with my prescious girls and family. Foragerkitchenco is in the making, and so far after a few strategic conversations, demonstrations and tastings.....we have had a lot of interest in the vision and will be starting trading very shortly. The building of a brand is not easy, and we are just at the beginning, so get on board and be a part of the new adventure.
