25.01.2022 As we draw a close on the GAA season for 2020 our outgoing Chairperson Sorcha shares her reflections of the last two years. It’s been an absolute pleasure and privilege to have been Chairperson of Clan na Gael for the past two years. This year has brought much uncertainty not just in the GAA community but to everyone across the world with COVID 19. This strange and unsettling time has meant that we have had to lean on each other even more and it gave me great honour as Chair...person to see Clan friends turn into family as we support and look after one another through this tough time, when being away from home and our loved ones is harder than ever. I really feel the club has developed and gone from strength to strength over the last few years, which is a credit to all the managers, sponsors, players, members and volunteers. You are the lifeblood of the club! It has been amazing to watch each code develop and progress as a result of their hard work and dedication. It has been incredible to see our men’s team enter a B team for two successive years. I know it has been tough at times but it’s a fantastic development and step forward for the club. Our battalion of ladies footballers have developed into a formidable force and developed a reputation for courage, determination and purpose. Although our camogs have had a difficult year with numbers, they have shown great performances and an incredible strength of character. My own personal highlight over the last two years was seeing our camogs capture the 2019 League Title. There is so much yet to come from all Clan na Gael codes. I have to give a special thank you to my fellow committee members over the last two years. It takes a lot of time and effort behind the scenes to run a club but these people work tirelessly to ensure the clubs development and efficient running and have been my own personal rocks throughout the year. Thank ye all so much for hard work, support and dedication to the club! I wish the incoming committee all the very best and I know good things are to come in 2021. Sorcha Clan Abu

10.01.2022 We are delighted to welcome a new committee on board following our AGM on Tuesday 20th Oct. We welcome Ollie as Chairperson and asked him to share a bit about himself and his hopes for the club. Clan na Gaelhas provided a home from home for me here in Sydney, having moved from Ireland 9 years ago. I have been actively involved with the clubs committee for over 2 years.... I have also been a part of NSW GAA for the last 2 years, and this has given me great opportunity to work with some amazing coaches and travel to different tournaments around the country and world. In this time we won 2 x All Australian Camogie titles and 1 x World Camogie title. It was an honour to represent Clan Na Gael and I was proud to see all teams had a strong Clan representation. One of my proudest moments with the club was winning the Camogie league title for the first time in 9 years, which was the result of a lot of hard work and dedication put in over 2 years by JP, Sorcha, Seamie and the ladies. I would like to take this opportunity to thank last years committee for their time and dedication to navigate through this unusual year and for always looking after our members on and off the pitch. Looking forward to 2021, our vision as a committee is to continue to promote our love of the Irish games in Sydney and create an environment in which our members feel a piece of home. Ollie Clan Abu
