13.01.2022 , . It's officially National NAIDOC Week, and this year’s theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. It's about recognising that First Nations... people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. The First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremony and invented unique technologies. They also built and engineered structures predating well-known sites such as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. To learn more about the theme, visit: www.naidoc.org.au or follow National NAIDOC. #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek

09.01.2022 Clapham Primary School is excited to announce that we are now subscribing to SchoolTV. This is a wellbeing platform featuring Dr Michael Carr-Gregg. As we all know it has never been more challenging for parents to raise happy, healthy and resilient children. Like never before, parents need to be informed with clear, fact-based information on the many challenges faced by today’s youth. Topics such as youth anxiety, depression, self-harm, drug and alcohol use, cyberbullying an...d many others need clear explanation and guidance. SchoolTV is a new ongoing resource that is now available to our parents. Each edition will address a major topic with expert interviews, fact sheets, parent quiz, recommended apps, books and much more. SchoolTV aggregates information from many great resources such as BeyondBlue and ReachOut, amongst others. SchoolTV provides a single stream of independent factual information that saves parents time and confusion of searching online across multiple sites for information. Our school’s launch site is https://claphamps.sa.schooltv.me You can also access the SchoolTV archive here: https://claphamps.sa.schooltv.me/category-latest-newsletter Kindest Regards Cassie Kopias

08.01.2022 Yesterday we had our second Orientation Visit for children starting Reception in 2021. We were so impressed with the children’s independence and interest in exploring their new learning environment. Lots of smiles and sharing. Such a positive morning and a great opportunity to connect with our new families and welcome them to our Clapham Primary community.

05.01.2022 Another amazing day full of learning opportunities for our students (&staff)! Today we hosted two Snake Education Sessions. We all learnt so much from these sessions. Some things we learnt were: what first aid to apply if someone was bitten, how to be safe near a snake, what to do if we see a snake, lots of facts about the types of snakes living in our local area, and much, much, more!!! We hope you heard about it this evening! Thank you to Dean for the very informative and entertaining sessions. Our Year 4s had special guests from Mitcham Council, Ulus, and Mitcham Mayor, Heather Holmes-Ross. Ulus and Heather helped our Year 4s learn more about local government as part of their Civics and Citizenship topic!

03.01.2022 Lest we forget. Today Australia paused to reflect, remember and honour those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Today at Clapham Primary we acknowledged the day with a ceremony and one minute’s silence. Our School Captains also represented Clapham Primary at the Remembrance Day Service at Springbank Secondary College.
