25.01.2022 WEEKEND WRAP UP Second Grade faced New Town on our home deck last Saturday. Having won the toss we had a bat first. Our innings was anchored by Tommy Pears who made a patient 94. He shared a 125 run stand for the second wicket with Matt Beven who supported with 59. Despite a solid foundation we struggled to gain momentum late, finishing our innings on 5/213. We began our bowling innings well, taking 3 wickets before the score passed 50, with Lachlan Borsboom bowling a fanta...stic early spell. New Town then formed stiff resistance and the match began to swing in their favour until Lachie dragged us back in with a brilliant run out from the deep. The match ebbed and flowed late before veteran Daniel Meredith struck twice in two balls to turn the match in our favour once again. Andy Reynolds held his nerve late with the ball and we managed to secure a win by 6 runs. The win was a great team effort and allowed us to send former captain Steven Wild out with a win. Stez has been a wonderful servant of the club over the past 6 seasons and we wish him and Hayley all the best with their move to Melbourne. Roos 5/213 Pears 94 (152) Beven 59 (91) Hurd 16* (18) Bucks 9/207 Meredith 3/26 (10) Borsboom 2/36 (10) Reynolds 2/40 (8)

22.01.2022 An excellent display of bat vs ball on the weekend for our U17’s Premier Boys team. Knowing we needed early wickets to keep the pressure on, up stepped Tom Studley, taking his first wicket for the day with the first ball. He proceeded to run through the Brighton order breaking the CDCC Club record with an amazing 9/18 off 11.3 overs, 7 of which were bowled!! In our second innings we were looking to score quickly, a solid opening stand of 32 between Jake and Josh came to an en...d but this bought Ozzie to the crease. Going into lunch both boys had settled,Jake just short of his 50 and Ozzie 32 off 33. Little did anyone know what we were in for, Jake finishing with 54 from 77, but Ozzie put the Brighton bowlers to the sword, scoring 68 off 16 balls to get to his 100 off 49, an amazing strike rate of 204,dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground. They amassed 135 run partnership to help set up an excellent victory for the team. An outstanding performance from some talented and committed Clarence Roo’s!!

An excellent start with the ball by Jessie Mudaliar saw New Towns dangerous opening batter Emily Mifsud dismissed for 11. Tight bowling and energy in the field took the game to the final over where New Town came away winners. Best with the ball for Clarence were Hollie Armitage 2/20, Megan Harper 1/4, Jessie Mudaliar 1/16 and Maddison Brooks 1/20. 15.01.2022 Clarence Women’s 2nd Grade had an outstanding win over North Hobart at Roo Bay. Batting first Maddie Brooks punished every North Hobart bowler scoring 140 not out off 67 balls. An amazing display of batting by the brilliant youngster. Setting the opposition a massive 3/217 to chase down. Excellent bowling and fielding by the girls made the chase for North Hobart extremely difficult, only scoring 4/98 from 20 overs.
