25.01.2022 Its been a busy weekend for our volunteers, attending numerous calls in the area. Last night we responded all of our appliances to a motor vehicle accident, our Community First Responder's provided medical care until the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and NSW Ambulance paramedics. This morning we braved the heat to continue to improve our skills in relay pumping. If you would like to join our team of dedicated volunteers send us a PM.

24.01.2022 Last summer's bush fires taught us some terrifying lessons about the importance of being prepared and having a plan. Learn from the experience of others this bush fire season.

23.01.2022 Today marks a year since we lost 2 of our colleagues, which sadly was only the start of the losses to our fire fighting family. It’s been a tough year for everyone, first the fires, then floods and of course Covid. Days like this are tough and support is available.... Lifeline 13 11 14 Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 For NSW RFS members, you can contact the Critical Incident Support Services Team or the Member Assistance Program for free support.

23.01.2022 A new way to notify your intention to burn is now available via www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify You must still follow councils clean air policy and notify your neighbours 24hrs prior.

23.01.2022 HAZARD REDUCTION BURN TODAY Crews are onsite and about to commence a hazard reduction between Cemetery Road and Morris Lane Clarence Town. Please slow down and drive with caution in the area.

22.01.2022 You know the alert levels of Advice, Watch and Act, and Emergency Warning. The way these are displayed on our website and Fires Near Me NSW smartphone app is c...hanging. Soon you’ll see these new icons. It’s part of the new Australian Warning System, to help you receive consistent information in emergencies no matter where you live, work or travel. While the icons may look different, what they mean doesn't change - you should check for information about what to do to protect you and your family. Keep an eye out for the new icons later this week. Check https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system for info.

22.01.2022 Hello All As most people are aware, we had an exceptional fire season with the Clarence Town Brigade being extremely busy providing some 3000 people hours in response to over 45 fires outside the Clarence Town area, all over NSW. We are blessed to have such responsible residents that we didn’t have one fire in our local community. The closest fire was at Martins Creek which spotted over to the western side of Glen Oak that was seen and quickly extinguished. Now that we are en...joying the cooler weather we would like to say a big thank you to the local community for your support. When people just say THANKS it makes it seem all worthwhile. Also big thanks for all the locals who donated to the Brigade throughout the season. There are too many to name and while we were fighting fires we couldn’t keep up. We received approximately $8000 in donations and many other items. The money will be used to make the job of our members a little easier and comfortable, such as management/scheduling software, specialised and training equipment and Brigade clothing. On behalf of Clarence Town Rural fire brigade, THANK YOU.

22.01.2022 Take note of the below location’s.

16.01.2022 As we say goodbye to 2020, we would like to thank the community for their continued support and of course our volunteers for the commitment to making a difference where we can. With the challenges of a tough fire season followed by Covid-19 our volunteers have continued to commit tireless hours to the brigade. We have attended well over 200 incidents within our community including 165 calls with our Community First Responder team. Whatever your're up to tonight, stay safe and have a Happy New Year!

13.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more

06.01.2022 NOTICE OF PROPOSED HAZARD REDUCTION WORKS We wish to advise you that hazard reduction works are proposed in the vicinity of your property. The prescribed burning will be undertaken at Cemetery Rd Clarence Town... The burn will be undertaken by the Rural Fire Service and subject to weather conditions, is scheduled for Monday the 5th of October 2020 As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following: Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes; Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns; Cover trampolines and remove netting to prevent ember burns; Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage; Remove washing from clotheslines; Ensure pets have a protected area; If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on; and If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice Should any further information be required, please contact the Lower Hunter Rural Fire Service office at East Maitland on 4015 0000 between 9am and 5:00pm weekdays. 04.01.2022 Know what to do when you hear a siren or see the flashing blue or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle? When you hear a siren or see the flashing blu...e or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle: * Give way to the emergency vehicle if you are stopped do not move until it is safe to proceed, even if the traffic light is green. If you are moving, you must slow down and stop if necessary to avoid a collision with the emergency vehicle. * Move out of the way as soon as you can safely do so * Move over as much as you can to the left-hand side of the road or, if possible, move onto the road shoulder or breakdown lane. On multi-lane roads, try to move into the left lane to let the emergency vehicle pass * Drivers on both sides of the road should be prepared to move out of the path of emergency vehicles * Emergency vehicles with sirens sounding or lights flashing responding to urgent situations are not required to follow the rules, as long as it is safe for them to do so. Drivers should always be extra cautious when they see flashing lights or hear sirens. https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au//approaching-emerg
