01.01.2022 Adelaide Massage Therapists is this the year that you start working on the real deep tissues? Is this the year you stop straining your body to elicit a deep tis...sue effect and start working on one of the bodies master systems - the lymphatic system. As a skilled therapist you know that the Lymphatic system is the first layer of the body, it is the first line of defense and often sorely overlooked in your foundational training. Brushed aside as a complex post grad technique. Reserved only for those post cancer treatment or who have complex conditions, the application of the Manual Lymphatic Drainage in daily clinical practice can seem useless to the average therapist. Not every client is coming in with removed lymph nodes, not every client has a complex immune system issue. Some do but many more dont. BUT, all your average clients will have a lymphatic system and living in the modern age our lymph system is under more strain than ever before. More and more clients require the hidden benefits that lymphatic drainage provides. Downregulation of the nervous system is one of the quiet benefits of MLD. As humans are becoming more sedentary keeping the waste removal system working well can help in the long term prevention of lifestyle-related disease. MLD is a much needed skill for massage therapists who are looking to provide their clients with treatments that are effective and far-reaching.
