We have already purchased two quality fillies with outstanding pedigrees for the group to be trained by Bjorn Baker Racing and Busuttin Racing. I spent the afternoon checking in on the horses owned by Pamsel Investments that are currently spelling and breaking-in as well as some recent purchases and promising youngsters that will be joining the Bjorn Baker Racing stable.

18.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing this girl back at the track with Kendrick Racing Stables next month. HEDGEWATER is a 2yo filly by Headwater that was purchased at the Magic Millions March sale last year to race with some mates and target the lucrative #QTIS bonus for fillies. After a decent spell at Christmas Creek Thoroughbreds she recently resumed pre-training at Kolora Lodge and looks ready to rock this prep.

18.01.2022 The Dundeel x Simply Brilliant filly is the final purchase for the Clarke Bloodstock Fillies Portfolio. She completes a trio of well bred fillies for a group of clients by elite stallions Savabeel, Not A Single Doubt and Dundeel to be trained by Bjorn Baker Racing in Sydney and Busuttin Racing in Melbourne. Hopefully these fillies can live up to my expectations on the racetrack before capitalising on the lucrative broodmare market after racing.

18.01.2022 European bred horses continue to dominate Australia’s long distance races so this week I attended the Tattersalls Book 2 yearling sale looking for the future Melbourne Cup winner. We purchased four very nice colts that will start their racing careers in the UK with James Ferguson Racing before they relocate to Australia as mature 3yo’s. 14.01.2022 Night Of Power held on for a tough win at Canterbury Racecourse in #Sydney on Friday night. I purchased this colt from Ireland for Bjorn Baker Racing and clients and this was his second race in Australia after a very promising first run last month. He looks destined for bigger things as the distance of his races increase. The prize money in Sydney is outstanding and this colt will be a lot of fun for his ownership group as he goes through the grades and hopefully graduates to Group class races later in the year.

13.01.2022 I had a great few days in the Hunter Valley inspecting recent weanling purchases and a selection of yearlings destined for the sales next year. This was capped off by a fantastic tour of the stud farms to inspect the first season stallions. Thanks to HQ Insurance Pty Ltd and Royston Murphy from Sledmere Stud for organising the tour!

There is plenty of stamina in this colt’s pedigree which will come into play when he steps up in trip in the coming weeks. 12.01.2022 I was very impressed by the quality of stallions on show in Victoria last weekend. It is great to see the Victorian breeding industry really starting to thrive on the back of investment from new and established stallion farms. The first season sires always attract plenty of attention and I was particularly taken by three new recruits. GRUNT, SIOUX NATION and BOLT D'ORO are all an outcross to Danehill and from sire lines that are sure to make a big impact in years to come...

I purchased this filly at the Magic Millions March yearling sale and race her with a group of mates. 09.01.2022 I am very pleased for Cornerstone Stud and Jarryd Minton on the arrival of their filly foal by #GoldenSlipper winner #Capitalist from the Commands mare Winter. This filly has all of the credentials to be a top class racehorse being by a stallion that was a Champion 2yo and from a half-sister to Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Unencumbered. I purchased Winter at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare sale and she has a date with Darley’s first season stallion #Kementari for the upcoming breeding season. Exciting times ahead!

One of the highlights was checking in on my old mate #WinningRupert at Newgate Farm. He has passed on a lot of strength and quality into his yearlings and they look like they will run!

04.01.2022 This colt is very much in the mould of his sire, Mongolian Khan, who I was fortunate to spend a bit of time with during his Autumn campaign in Sydney as a 3yo. He was a dual Derby winner and returned as a 4yo to take out the Caulfield Cup so he has all of the credentials to produce an elite middle distance horse. This colt's dam, Plaza Doree is a proven stakes producer through Adorabeel who was a Group 3 winner in Sydney. Hopefully he will be lining up on Derby Day in Melbourne in November 2020.

01.01.2022 Lot 629 from the New Zealand Bloodstock #Karaka yearling sale is the first purchase for the Clarke Bloodstock Fillies Portfolio. This filly is a classic middle distance type by Champion stallion Savabeel and the dream is that she can line up in the VRC Oaks and ATC Oaks as a three-year-old. For this portfolio I am buying three fillies for a group of clients to race with leading trainers Bjorn Baker Racing in Sydney and Busuttin Racing in Melbourne. The focus is on sourcing fillies by proven stallions with strong commercial pedigrees that have the physique and conformation to perform at stakes level.
