25.01.2022 Another successful hunt. Going is tough at the moment to find the Deer but when you read the signs and go carefully success is inevitable. Well done to Cam our editor, his wife our admin champ and his kids. We had a good stalk to get this nice Hind ready to fill his freezer again. 24.01.2022 This region, its towns and communities, similar to so many others throughout this country, were built on the back of a strong timber industry. Timber is the perfect renewable. Giving the incentive back to landholders to nurture and responsibly utilise the assets on their land is the foundation of all sustainable use strategies.

23.01.2022 Beware clan, the wriggly sticks are out and on the move.. can you identify this snake? #snaketattoo #hunting #outdoors #outdoorliving #australia

23.01.2022 Well I suppose it had to happen. 21 wet, hard hunting days in a row without a chance to dry and re-seal the Lowa Rangers saw them finally start to leak a little. Back into shape now for the next three or four or five weeks

18.01.2022 Capitalism or Socialism. This is the choice for Queenslanders this weekend. If you love the outdoors - hunting and fishing especially, then you have the choice between excess bureaucracy or free enterprise. Think long and hard before you vote please. Future generations will hold us accountable for our decisions.

17.01.2022 For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit and hunt with us recently at the hut. Will not have met the newest edition to the clan ‘baby’. Baby is settling in beautifully and learning how to play dog style.

16.01.2022 With the horror of the massive NSW and Vic fires unfolding every day now and so many of our friends severely affected down there, Jude and I decided to put a clip up that showed the local situation. We started to film before Christmas in our local area after the Jimna fire but by New Years eve, another huge area near us was scorched as well, with the risk now of another blaze starting at any time. When we talked to mates at Benambra, Victoria, this morning, our thoughts and prayers went to them as they face disaster once again and we wished we were close enough to assist. Stay safe everyone. Time to see a change back to "Old fashioned" methods or this madness will only happen again and again.

15.01.2022 Busy putting up our Christmas tree, getting ready for a get together on the 21st December at the lodge. Come along and help us get into the festive spirit.

15.01.2022 We live in a rapidly changing world. If cultural pursuits like hunting and fishing are to remain as part of our lives, we must all be more responsible. If introduced species like wild deer are to be regarded any better than other pests, then they need very careful management. To do this we need to know exactly where we as Queenslanders stand in regard to legislation. The RIDGE team has come up with this position statement. Watch the clip, click on the link below and please... share with other hunters anglers and farmers. CLICK HERE FOR POSITIONAL STATEMENT https://www.theridgegroup.net/

13.01.2022 Proud day in any hunting guides life. Three generations in on the hunt together for this great stag taken by Ken Diess

12.01.2022 Last week we posted a Position Statement to give a clear indication of the issues that face hunters and shooters in Qld. Here now is the outline of a system called HuntEasy which has been developed by our RIDGE team over the past 25 years. Click here to view our system:... https://www.theridgegroup.net/ See more

11.01.2022 Just a quick clip I thought you would like to watch with Skunk leading the chase to bail up some pigs on a recent hunt with Oscarin. Let me know your thoughts!

11.01.2022 The RIDGE 25th Anniversary Red Deer Ballot calendar has been very well received by members so far. 08.01.2022 The wisdom passed down from our kin, the old time grazier, timber cutter, forestry worker, DPI staffer, fire fighter and Tribal Elder, is fast being cast aside. The "lock it up and she'll be right" attitude is not working. Time to remember what our parents and grandparents taught us and work towards a sustainable future for all.

08.01.2022 Most of the rules that face us as hunters, should really be our values. When that day comes, getting access onto private land becomes far easier as gaining a landholders trust is no longer an issue. Once more landholders see the value of ethical recreational hunters, public land hunting on adjoining land will be not just possible but welcomed.

07.01.2022 Sambar deer to many of us, are a magnificent game animal while to others, a terrible introduced pest. They were put here by our forebears to be used but not abused so it is really up to us, the hunters to put our best foot forward and show their full social, nutritional, spiritual, educational, environmental AND ecomonic value. Use it or lose it.

06.01.2022 2020 RIDGE Ballot 1st round is getting closer to being drawn get your request to enter in now to start the entry process. It’s going to be a great year and it’s our 25th anniversary. http://www.australianwildcountryadventures.com.au/

06.01.2022 Over a hundred and twenty days solid hunting since I bought these new Lowa Ranger boots. Not one wet sock, not even the hint of a blister even though I walked hard with them from day one, no heal pinch at all, nothing but comfort, support and grip. The best boots I've worn in over 50 years of hunting.

06.01.2022 Clark McGhie and Dean sit and chat in this 2 part video about a very current debate around State Forest hunting and sustainable use for Deer and the overall attitude of managing sustainability for all our resources.

04.01.2022 Some may feel that hell has frozen over. Many years ago I dropped out of ADA due to the attitude of some in the higher ranks. I followed my gut feeling that we had tough times ahead for us as hunters and an even tougher time ahead for our wild deer herds, so the group known as RIDGE was formed. We have maintained the stance that wild deer are an incredibly valuable asset and resource for all if they are managed with respect under sustainable use principle. Over recent years, the direction, focus and drive shown by the National board members, in particular David Voss and Barry Howlett has impressed me so much that I rejoined the group last week. I am proud to be a part of their fundraising efforts below. Please support them and the future of wild deer.

04.01.2022 The children of today will be the hunters of tomorrow. We are blessed enough to have such a great clan of people who love sharing there information, this photo captures Dan embarking some knowledge onto tomorrow’s hunters, after they had watched the skinning and gutting process. #huntereducation #hunting #deermeat #carcus #realfood #paddocktoplate #queenslandhunting #hunters #genfiddichclan #raisedinblaze #tomorrowshunter

02.01.2022 A big thanks to all the team. Health issues have hit us hard for over 12 months now but you guys and gals in the RIDGE and Glenfiddich team helped us through. First Judy with a double dose of Ross and Glandular fevers, me with a wrecked heart nerve, then skin cancer and now with one of our beloved Granddaughters airlifted to Brisbane via Toowoomba last night in the fog with acute appendicitis. Add to that the Grandparent worries of two 8 week premi Grandchildren, one on each side of the world and you may guess why we have disappeared off the radar for a time. Stay tuned for the launch of the 2020, 25th Anniversary AWCA/RIDGE Red deer ballot in the next few days. Thanks again team!!

02.01.2022 Sustainable Use vs Unsustainable Use. It’s your choice this election. If you truly believe species like wild deer are a nasty feral pest that needs eradication, then you are ok with every lethal method from 1080 poison to aerial culling. If not, then support Sustainable Use management. ... Sustainable use vs Unsustainable use https://youtu.be/r2cHs4yPhNE

02.01.2022 I was always late for Mum's birthday. I was always out in the bush hunting stags and it happened again this year. Mum was 90 yesterday and due to this damned virus, I wasn't able to go and see her in the retirement home. Strange as it may seem, although she always worried about which distant valley or mountain her son was on, she was always my greatest deer hunting supporter and I'm sure she would forgive me once again. The reason why is quite simple. Through her marvellous ...life, she was one of the most practical, common sense bush ladies you would ever meet. On a horse with her sisters Leith and Belle, Uncle Jack and Grandad working cattle at Elgin Vale, skinning buffalo and shooting crocodiles on Mt Bundy, hunting red deer, fencing and working a tourist launch with Dad at Manapouri or dragging us ratbag bush kids on and off planes to and from NZ each year, she was and still is, one heck of a lady. Happy Birthday Mum. See more
